1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,ശ്രീമാനായ തെയോഫിലോസേ, ആദിമുതൽ കണ്ട സാക്ഷികളും വചനത്തിന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാരുമായവർ നമ്മെ ഭരമേല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ,

2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;നമ്മുടെ ഇടയിൽ പൂർണ്ണമായി പ്രമാണിച്ചു വരുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങളെ വിവരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ചരിത്രം ചമെപ്പാൻ പലരും തുനിഞ്ഞിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു,

3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,നിനക്കു ഉപദേശം ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വാർത്തയുടെ നിശ്ചയം നീ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു

4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.അതു ക്രമമായി എഴുതുന്നതു നന്നെന്നു ആദിമുതൽ സകലവും സൂക്ഷ്മമായി പരിശോധിച്ചിട്ടു എനിക്കും തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

5 THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.യെഹൂദ്യരാജാവായ ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു അബീയാക്കൂറിൽ സെഖര്യാവു എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരോഹിതൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ അഹരോന്റെ പുത്രിമാരിൽ ഒരുത്തി ആയിരുന്നു; അവൾക്കു എലീശബെത്ത് എന്നു പേർ.

6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.ഇരുവരും ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ നീതിയുള്ളവരും കർത്താവിന്റെ സകല കല്പനകളിലും ന്യായങ്ങളിലും കുററമില്ലാത്തവരായി നടക്കുന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നു.

7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.എലീശബെത്ത് മച്ചിയാകകൊണ്ടു അവർക്കു സന്തതി ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞു; ഇരുവരും വയസ്സു ചെന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നു.

8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,അവൻ കൂറിന്റെ ക്രമപ്രകാരം ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ പുരോഹിതനായി ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുവരുമ്പോൾ:

9 According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.പൌരോഹിത്യമര്യാദപ്രകാരം കർത്താവിന്റെ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാൻ അവന്നു നറുക്കു വന്നു.

10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്ന നാഴികയിൽ ജനസമൂഹം ഒക്കെയും പുറത്തു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.അപ്പോൾ കർത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതൻ ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്റെ വലത്തു ഭാഗത്തു നിൽക്കുന്നവനായിട്ടു അവന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.

12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.സെഖര്യാവു അവനെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു ഭയപരവശനായി.

13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.ദൂതൻ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: സെഖര്യാവേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിന്റെ പ്രാർത്ഥനെക്കു ഉത്തരമായി: നിന്റെ ഭാര്യ എലീശബെത്ത് നിനക്കു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേർ ഇടേണം.

14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.നിനക്കു സന്തോഷവും ഉല്ലാസവും ഉണ്ടാകും; അവന്റെ ജനനത്തിങ്കൽ പലരും സന്തോഷിക്കും.

15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.അവൻ കർത്താവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വലിയവൻ ആകും; വീഞ്ഞും മദ്യവും കുടിക്കയില്ല; അമ്മയുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽവെച്ചു തന്നേ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു നിറയും.

16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളിൽ പലരെയും അവരുടെ ദൈവമായ കർത്താവിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചുവരുത്തും.

17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.അവൻ അപ്പന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ മക്കളിലേക്കും വഴങ്ങാത്തവരെ നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ ബോധത്തിലേക്കും തിരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുക്കമുള്ളോരു ജനത്തെ കർത്താവിന്നുവേണ്ടി ഒരുക്കുവാൻ അവന്നു മുമ്പായി ഏലീയാവിന്റെ ആത്മാവോടും ശക്തിയോടും കൂടെ നടക്കും.

18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.സെഖര്യാവു ദൂതനോടു; ഇതു ഞാൻ എന്തൊന്നിനാൽ അറിയും? ഞാൻ വൃദ്ധനും എന്റെ ഭാര്യ വയസ്സുചെന്നവളുമല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.ദൂതൻ അവനോടു: ഞാൻ ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്ന ഗബ്രിയേൽ ആകുന്നു; നിന്നോടു സംസാരിപ്പാനും ഈ സദ്വർത്തമാനം നിന്നോടു അറിയിപ്പാനും എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.തക്കസമയത്തു നിവൃത്തിവരുവാനുള്ള എന്റെ ഈ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു അതു സംഭവിക്കുവരെ നീ സംസാരിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാതെ മൌനമായിരിക്കും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.ജനം സെഖര്യാവിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു, അവൻ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ താമസിച്ചതിനാൽ ആശ്ചര്യപെട്ടു.

22 And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.അവൻ പുറത്തു വന്നാറെ അവരോടു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; അതിനാൽ അവൻ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ഒരു ദർശനം കണ്ടു എന്നു അവർ അറിഞ്ഞു; അവൻ അവർക്കു ആഗ്യം കാട്ടി ഊമനായി പാർത്തു.

23 And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.അവന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷാകാലം തികഞ്ഞശേഷം അവൻ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി.

24 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,ആ നാളുകൾ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ എലീശബെത്ത് ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു:

25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽ എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്ന നിന്ദ നീക്കുവാൻ കർത്താവു എന്നെ കടാക്ഷിച്ച നാളിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ എനിക്കു ചെയ്തുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അഞ്ചു മാസം ഒളിച്ചു പാർത്തു.

26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,ആറാം മാസത്തിൽ ദൈവം ഗബ്രീയേൽദൂതനെ നസറെത്ത് എന്ന ഗലീലപട്ടണത്തിൽ,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.ദാവീദ് ഗൃഹത്തിലുള്ള യോസേഫ് എന്നൊരു പുരുഷന്നു വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്ന കന്യകയുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു; ആ കന്യകയുടെ പേർ മറിയ എന്നു ആയിരുന്നു.

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.ദൂതൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ അകത്തു ചെന്നു: കൃപലഭിച്ചവളേ, നിനക്കു വന്ദനം; കർത്താവു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.അവൾ ആ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു: ഇതു എന്തൊരു വന്ദനം എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.ദൂതൻ അവളോടു: മറിയയേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിനക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.നീ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു യേശു എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്കേണം.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:അവൻ വലിയവൻ ആകും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും; കർത്താവായ ദൈവം അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം അവന്നു കൊടുക്കും

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.അവൻ യാക്കോബ് ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു എന്നേക്കും രാജാവായിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്നു അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?മറിയ ദൂതനോടു: ഞാൻ പുരുഷനെ അറിയായ്കയാൽ ഇതു എങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.അതിന്നു ദൂതൻ: പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിന്റെ മേൽ വരും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ ശക്തി നിന്റെ മേൽ നിഴലിടും; ആകയാൽ ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്ന വിശുദ്ധപ്രജ ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.

36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.നിന്റെ ചാർച്ചക്കാരത്തി എലീശബെത്തും വാർദ്ധക്യത്തിൽ ഒരു മകനെ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മച്ചി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവന്നവൾക്കു ഇതു ആറാം മാസം.

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാര്യവും അസാദ്ധ്യമല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.അതിന്നു മറിയ: ഇതാ, ഞാൻ കർത്താവിന്റെ ദാസി; നിന്റെ വാക്കു പോലെ എനിക്കു ഭവിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ദൂതൻ അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി.

39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;ആ നാളുകളിൽ മറിയ എഴുന്നേറ്റു മല നാട്ടിൽ ഒരു യെഹൂദ്യപട്ടണത്തിൽ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു,

40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.സെഖര്യാവിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ എത്തി എലീശബെത്തിനെ വന്ദിച്ചു.

41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:മറിയയുടെ വന്ദനം എലീശബെത്ത് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പിള്ള അവളുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽ തുള്ളി; എലീശബെത്ത് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവളായി,

42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: സ്ത്രീകളിൽ നീ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൾ; നിന്റെ ഗർഭ ഫലവും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടതു:

43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?എന്റെ കർത്താവിന്റെ മാതാവു എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്ന മാനം എനിക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി.

44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.നിന്റെ വന്ദനസ്വരം എന്റെ ചെവിയിൽ വീണപ്പോൾ പിള്ള എന്റെ ഗർഭത്തിൽ ആനന്ദം കൊണ്ടു തുള്ളി.

45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.കർത്താവു തന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതിന്നു നിവൃത്തിയുണ്ടാകും എന്നു വിശ്വസിച്ചവൾ ഭാഗ്യവതി.

46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,അപ്പോൾ മറിയ പറഞ്ഞതു: “എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കർത്താവിനെ മഹിമപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു;

47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.എന്റെ ആത്മാവു എന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിൽ ഉല്ലസിക്കുന്നു.

48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.അവൻ തന്റെ ദാസിയുടെ താഴ്ച കടാക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഇന്നുമുതൽ എല്ലാ തലമുറകളും എന്നെ ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു വാഴ്ത്തും.

49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.ശക്തനായവൻ എനിക്കു വലിയവ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു അവന്റെ നാമം പരിശുദ്ധം തന്നേ.

50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവർക്കു അവന്റെ കരുണ തലമുറതലമുറയോളം ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.തന്റെ ഭുജംകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ബലം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു, ഹൃദയവിചാരത്തിൽ അഹങ്കരിക്കുന്നവരെ ചിതറിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെ സിംഹാസനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു ഇറക്കി താണവരെ ഉയർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.വിശന്നിരിക്കുന്നവരെ നന്മകളാൽ നിറെച്ചു, സമ്പന്നന്മാരെ വെറുതെ അയച്ചു കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

54 He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നും അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും എന്നേക്കും കരുണ ഓർക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു,

55 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.തന്റെ ദാസനായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ തുണെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”

56 And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.മറിയ ഏകദേശം മൂന്നു മാസം അവളോടു കൂടെ പാർത്തിട്ടു വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

57 Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.എലീശബെത്തിന്നു പ്രസവിപ്പാനുള്ള കാലം തികഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അവൾ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു;

58 And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.കർത്താവു അവൾക്കു വലിയ കരുണ കാണിച്ചു എന്നു അയൽക്കാരും ചാർച്ചക്കാരും കേട്ടിട്ടു അവളോടുകൂടെ സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

59 And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.എട്ടാം നാളിൽ അവർ പൈതലിനെ പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്‍വാൻ വന്നു; അപ്പന്റെ പേർ പോലെ അവന്നു സെഖര്യാവു എന്നു പേർ വിളിപ്പാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു.

60 And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.അവന്റെ അമ്മയോ: അല്ല, അവന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേരിടേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

61 And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.അവർ അവളോടു: നിന്റെ ചാർച്ചയിൽ ഈ പേരുള്ളവർ ആരും ഇല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

62 And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.പിന്നെ അവന്നു എന്തു പേർ വിളിപ്പാൻ വിചാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അപ്പനോടു ആഗ്യംകാട്ടി ചോദിച്ചു.

63 And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.അവൻ ഒരു എഴുത്തു പലക ചോദിച്ചു: അവന്റെ പേർ യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു എഴുതി; എല്ലാവരും ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.

64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.ഉടനെ അവന്റെ വായും നാവും തുറന്നു, അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചു ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ചു.

65 And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.ചുറ്റും പാർക്കുന്നവർക്കു എല്ലാം ഭയം ഉണ്ടായി;, യെഹൂദ്യമലനാട്ടിൽ എങ്ങും ഈ വാർത്ത ഒക്കെയും പരന്നു.

66 And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.കേട്ടവർ എല്ലാവരും അതു ഹൃദയത്തിൽ നിക്ഷേപിച്ചു: ഈ പൈതൽ എന്തു ആകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; കർത്താവിന്റെ കൈ അവനോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ സെഖര്യാവു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവനായി പ്രവചിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു:

68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,“യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കർത്താവു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ. അവൻ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ സന്ദർശിച്ചു ഉദ്ധാരണം ചെയ്കയും

69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;ആദിമുതൽ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപ്രവാചകന്മാർ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ

70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ വശത്തു നിന്നും നമ്മെ പകെക്കുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും കയ്യിൽ നിന്നും നമ്മെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ

71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ നമുക്കു രക്ഷയുടെ കൊമ്പു ഉയർത്തുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു,

72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു കരുണ പ്രവർത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

73 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു

74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,നാം ആയുഷ്ക്കാലം ഒക്കെയും ഭയം കൂടാതെ തിരുമുമ്പിൽ വിശുദ്ധിയിലും നീതിയിലും തന്നെ ആരാധിപ്പാൻ നമുക്കു കൃപ നല്കുമെന്നു

75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.അവൻ നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു സത്യവും തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധ നിയമവും ഓർത്തതുകൊണ്ടും ആകുന്നു.

76 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;നീയോ പൈതലേ, അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും. കർത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കുവാനും

77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആർദ്രകരുണയാൽ അവന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു പാപമോചനത്തിൽ രക്ഷാപരിജ്ഞാനം കൊടുപ്പാനുമായി നീ അവന്നു മുമ്പായി നടക്കും.

78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,ഇരുളിലും മരണനിഴലിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നവർക്കു പ്രകാശിച്ചു, നമ്മുടെ കാലുകളെ സമാധാനമാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു

79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.ആ ആർദ്രകരുണയാൽ ഉയരത്തിൽനിന്നു ഉദയം നമ്മെ സന്ദർശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”

80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.പൈതൽ വളർന്നു ആത്മാവിൽ ബലപ്പെട്ടു; അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു തന്നെത്താൻ കാണിക്കും നാൾവരെ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.
