ഹായിരാജാവു അതു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവനും നഗരവാസികളായ അവന്റെ ജനമൊക്കെയും ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്ന സമയത്തു സമഭൂമിക്കു മുമ്പിൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ പടെക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു. പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ പിൻവശത്തു തനിക്കു വിരോധമായി പതിയിരിപ്പു ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവൻ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

of the city הָעִ֣יר ʿîr eer
against לִקְרַֽאת qirʾâ keer-AH

to battle, לַֽמִּלְחָמָ֞ה milḥāmâ meel-ha-MA
he ה֧וּא hûʾ hoo
and all וְכָל kōl kole
his people, עַמּ֛וֹ ʿam am
at a time appointed, לַמּוֹעֵ֖ד môʿēd moh-ADE
before לִפְנֵ֣י pānîm pa-NEEM
the plain; הָֽעֲרָבָ֑ה ʿărābâ uh-ra-VA
but he וְהוּא֙ hûʾ hoo
not לֹ֣א lōʾ loh
wist יָדַ֔ע yādaʿ ya-DA
that כִּֽי kî kee
liers in ambush אֹרֵ֥ב ʾārab ah-RAHV
