Genesis 28:12
അവൻ ഒരു സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടു: ഇതാ, ഭൂമിയിൽ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു കോവണി; അതിന്റെ തല സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തോളം എത്തിയിരുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാർ അതിന്മേൽകൂടി കയറുകയും ഇറങ്ങുകയുമായിരുന്നു.

| and behold | וְהִנֵּ֤ה | wĕhinnē | veh-hee-NAY |
| a ladder | סֻלָּם֙ | sullām | soo-LAHM |
| up set | מֻצָּ֣ב | muṣṣāb | moo-TSAHV |
| on the earth, | אַ֔רְצָה | ʾarṣâ | AR-tsa |
| and the top | וְרֹאשׁ֖וֹ | wĕrōʾšô | veh-roh-SHOH |
| reached it of | מַגִּ֣יעַ | maggîaʿ | ma-ɡEE-ah |
| to heaven: | הַשָּׁמָ֑יְמָה | haššāmāyĕmâ | ha-sha-MA-yeh-ma |
| and behold | וְהִנֵּה֙ | wĕhinnēh | veh-hee-NAY |
| the angels | מַלְאֲכֵ֣י | malʾăkê | mahl-uh-HAY |
| God of | אֱלֹהִ֔ים | ʾĕlōhîm | ay-loh-HEEM |
| ascending | עֹלִ֥ים | ʿōlîm | oh-LEEM |
| and descending | וְיֹֽרְדִ֖ים | wĕyōrĕdîm | veh-yoh-reh-DEEM |
