6 യഹോവ അവളുടെ ഗർഭം അടെച്ചിരുന്നതിനാൽ അവളുടെ പ്രതിയോഗി അവളെ വ്യസനിപ്പിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം വളരെ മുഷിപ്പിച്ചു.
7 അവൾ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു പോകുന്ന സമയത്തൊക്കെയും ആണ്ടുതോറും അവൾ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തുപോന്നു. അവൾ അവളെ മുഷിപ്പിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവൾ കരഞ്ഞു പട്ടിണി കിടന്നു.
8 അവളുടെ ഭർത്താവായ എൽക്കാനാ അവളോടു: ഹന്നേ, നീ എന്തിന്നു കരയുന്നു? എന്തിന്നു പട്ടിണികിടക്കുന്നു? നീ വ്യസനിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പത്തു പുത്രന്മാരെക്കാൾ നന്നല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6 And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the Lord had shut up her womb.
7 And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
8 Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?
