ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಾದ ಜನರು ಬಲ ಗೊಂಡು ಮೊದಲನೇ ದಿನ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ವ್ಯೂಹಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರಿಗಿ ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟಿದರು. (ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕರ್ತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಆತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದ ವರೆಗೆ ಅತ್ತು--ನಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕೋ ಎಂದು ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರು.

ಬೆನ್ಯಾ ವಿಾನನವರ ಹೊರತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿ ಯುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಲಕ್ಷ ಜನರೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸ ಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು. ಇವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಯುದ್ಧದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಆದರೆ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೂ ತನ್ನ ತನ್ನ ಕುಮಾರ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಯರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಮನೋವ್ಯಥೆಪಟ್ಟು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಬಹಳ ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದನು. ಆದರೂ ದಾವೀದನು ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.
2 ಸಮುವೇಲನು 11:25
ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಆ ದೂತನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ--ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿನಗೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಗೆ ಯಿಲ್ಲದ್ದಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಬಾರದು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಕತ್ತಿಯು ಇವನನ್ನಾದರೂ ಸರಿ ಅವನನ್ನಾದರೂ ಸರಿ ತಿಂದು ಬಿಡುವದು. ನೀನು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲಮಾಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಯುದ್ಧವು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬಲವಾಗಿರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸು ಅಂದನು.
