ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸಿ--ನನ್ನ ರಥಸಮೂಹದೊಡನೆ ಪರ್ವತ ಶಿಖರಗಳನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಲೆಬನೋನಿನ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅದರ ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ದೇವದಾರು, ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದ ತುರಾಯಿ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿದುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅಂಚಿನ ಉನ್ನತವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಕರ್ಮೇಲಿನ ಅಡವಿಯನ್ನೂ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ;

By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel.

ಇಗೋ, ಅಶ್ಶೂರ್ಯವು ಲೆಬನೋನಿನ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳುಳ್ಳ ದೇವ ದಾರು ಆಗಿದೆ. ಅದರ ನೆರಳು ದಟ್ಟವಾಗಿದೆ, ಎತ್ತರವು ನೀಳವಾಗಿದೆ; ಅದರ ತುದಿಯು ದಟ್ಟವಾದ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿತ್ತು.

ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುವ ಕರ್ತನು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರುವನು; ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಸ್ವರೂ ಪನಾದ ದೇವರನ್ನು ದೂಷಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ತೀರಿಸಾನು; ಆದದರಿಂದ ಉಳಿದಿರುವ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜನರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಆತನನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸು ಎಂಬದಾಗಿ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಕರ್ತನು ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸುವನು; ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನ ವಶವಾಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ನೀವು ಕರ್ತನಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸೆ ಇಡುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ;

ಇದಾಗದಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನ ಸೇವಕ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕ್ಕವನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿ ಬಿಡುವಿ? ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ಕುದುರೆಗಳಿ ಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ರಾಹುತರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ಐಗುಪ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೀ.

ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಇನ್ನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಲೆಬ ನೋನ್‌ ಫಲವುಳ್ಳ ಹೊಲವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಆ ಫಲವುಳ್ಳ ಹೊಲವು ಅಡವಿಯಾಗಿ ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವದಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
