ನೀರಿ ನಂತೆ ಚಂಚಲನಾಗಿದ್ದು ನೀನು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನಾಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮಂಚವನ್ನೇರಿ ಹೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಿದಿ; ನನ್ನ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಏರಿದಿ;

ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಮಗನಾದ ರೂಬೇನನ ಕುಮಾರರು (ರೂಬೇನನು ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಮಗನಾಗಿದ್ದನು; ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಅಪವಿತ್ರಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲತನದ ಹಕ್ಕು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ ಮಗ ನಾದ ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಕುಮಾರರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಈ ವಂಶಾವಳಿಯು ಚೊಚ್ಚಲತನದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟದ್ದಲ್ಲ.

ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಲಗಿ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ವಸ್ತ್ರದ ಸೆರಗನ್ನು ತೆರೆದವನಿಗೆ ಶಾಪ. ಜನವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆಮೆನ್ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲಿ.
