ರೂಬೇನನೇ, ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಮಗನು, ನನ್ನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯೂ ನನ್ನ ಬಲದ ಆರಂಭವೂ ಔನ್ಯತ್ಯಾತಿ ಶಯವೂ ಬಲಾತಿಶಯವೂ ನೀನೇ.

ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಮಗನಾದ ರೂಬೇನನ ಕುಮಾರರು (ರೂಬೇನನು ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಮಗನಾಗಿದ್ದನು; ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಅಪವಿತ್ರಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲತನದ ಹಕ್ಕು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ ಮಗ ನಾದ ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಕುಮಾರರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಈ ವಂಶಾವಳಿಯು ಚೊಚ್ಚಲತನದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟದ್ದಲ್ಲ.
