ಆದರೆ ಕರ್ತನು ಕಸ್ದೀಯರ, ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ, ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ, ಅಮ್ಮೋನ್ಯರ ಗುಂಪುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಕರ್ತನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಾದ ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಯೆಹೂದವನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಿದನು.

ಆಗ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯಾದ ಯೆಶಾಯನು ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಏನು ಹೇಳಿದರು? ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು ಅಂದನು. ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು--ಅವರು ದೂರ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಅಂದರೆ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂದನು.

ಅವಳು ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವರಾದ ಅಶ್ಶೂರ್ಯ ರನ್ನೂ ನಾಯಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಅಧಿಕಾರಸ್ಥರು ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ಧರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಕುದುರೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಸವಾರಿಮಾಡುವ ರಾಹುತರಾಗಿಯೂ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸತಕ್ಕ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರಾ ಗಿಯೂ ಇರುವಂಥ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೋಹಿಸಿದಳು.

ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನೀಲಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊದಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ (ಧರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ) ಯೋಧರು (ಮುಖಂಡರೂ) ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಸ್ಥರೂ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸತಕ್ಕ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರೂ ಕುದುರೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಸವಾರಿ ಮಾಡುವ ರಾಹುತರೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಅಂಥವರನ್ನು, ಮೋಹಿಸಿದಳು.

ಇಗೋ, ಕಸ್ದೀಯರ ದೇಶವು! ಅಶ್ಶೂರರು ಅದನ್ನು ಅರಣ್ಯ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಈಡು ಮಾಡುವತನಕ ಈ ಜನರು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. (ನಿರ್ನಾ ಮವಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ) ಅವರು ಗೋಪುರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅದರ ಅರಮನೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅದನ್ನು ಹಾಳು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
