ಇದನ್ನು ಅವರು ನೋಡಿ ದಾಗ--ಇವನು ಪಾಪಿಯಾದವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅತಿಥಿ ಯಾಗಿರಲು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟಿದರು.
ಲೂಕನು 18:11
ಫರಿಸಾಯನು ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನೊಳಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಾ--ದೇವರೇ, ಸುಲು ಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರೂ ಅನೀತಿವಂತರೂ ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರಿಗಳೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಮಿಕ್ಕಾದವರಂತೆ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಈ ಸುಂಕದವನ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲ, ಆದದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ಫರಿಸಾಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳು--ಇವನು ಪಾಪಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಿ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಊಟ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟಿದರು.

ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಯಾಕೆ ಹೀಗೆ ದೇವದೂಷಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ? ದೇವರೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಹೊರತು ಮತ್ತಾರು ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಬಲ್ಲರು ಎಂದು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡರು.

ಅವನು ಅವರ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೇಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಸಭೆಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಸಭೆಯ ಮಾತನ್ನೂ ಅಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅವನು ನಿನಗೆ ಅನ್ಯನಂತೆಯೂ ಸುಂಕದವನಂತೆಯೂ ಇರಲಿ.
