ಅಬ್ರಾಮನು ಆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಶೆಕೆಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಮೋರೆಯೆಂಬ ಮೈದಾನದ ವರೆಗೆ ಹಾದು ಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರು.

ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಅವನು ವಾಗ್ದತ್ತ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದವನಂತೆ ಗುಡಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದುಕೊಂಡು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅದೇ ವಾಗ್ದಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾಧ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಇಸಾಕ ಯಾಕೋಬರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಗುಡಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದನು.
ಆದಿಕಾಂಡ 35:4
ಆಗ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅನ್ಯದೇವರುಗಳನ್ನೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಕಿವಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಮುರುವು ಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಶೆಕೆಮಿಗೆ ಸವಿಾಪವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಏಲಾಮರದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟನು.

ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನೆಂಬ ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಉದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎದ್ದು ಹರೋದಿನ ಬಾವಿಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಡಿಳಿದರು. ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ಯರ ದಂಡು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಮೋರೆ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದಿತ್ತು.

ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಾಮನ ದನಕಾಯುವವರಿಗೂ ಲೋಟನ ದನಕಾಯುವವರಿಗೂ ಜಗಳವಾಯಿತು. ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರೂ ಪೆರಿಜೀಯರೂ ಆಗ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಅವರನ್ನು ಶೇಕೆಮಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಶೆಕೆಮನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಹಮೋರನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಂದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಹಣಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಸಮಾಧಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಇಟ್ಟರು.

ಇದ ಲ್ಲದೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಐಗುಪ್ತದಿಂದ ತಂದ ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಎಲುಬುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ಶೆಕೆಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಶೆಕೆಮನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಹಮೋರನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಂದ ನೂರು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿನಾಣ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಂಡು ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ, ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಯಾದ, ನೆಲದ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟರು.

ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವರು ನಫ್ತಾಲಿಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಗಲಿಲಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಕೆದೆಷನ್ನೂ ಎಫ್ರಾ ಯಾಮನ ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶೆಕೇಮನ್ನೂ ಯೂದದ ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನ್ ಎಂಬ ಕಿರ್ಯರ್ತ್ಬ ವನ್ನೂ ನೇಮಿಸಿದರು.

ದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಭುವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಹಿವ್ವಿಯನಾದ ಹಮೋರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಶೆಕೆಮನು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಕೂಡಿ ಅಶುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

ಅರ್ವಾದಿಯನೂ ಚೆಮಾರಿಯನೂ ಹಮಾತಿಯನೂ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದರು. ತರುವಾಯ ಕಾನಾನ್ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾಗಿ ಹರಡಿದವು.
