ಲೋಟನು ತನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಮೈದಾನವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೋಡಿದನು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಕರ್ತನು ಸೊದೋಮನ್ನೂ ಗೊಮೋರ ವನ್ನೂ ನಾಶಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಅದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಚೋಗರಿನ ವರೆಗೆ ನೀರಾವರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು ಕರ್ತನ ತೋಟದಂತೆಯೂ ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದಂತೆಯೂ ಇತ್ತು.

ಯೊರ್ದ ನಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಬೈಲಾದ ಸುಕ್ಕೋತಿಗೂ ಚಾರೆತಾನಿಗೂ ನಡುವೆ ಇರುವ ಜೇಡು ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಸನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಎರಕ ಹೊಯ್ಸಿದನು.

ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ಏದೆನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ ತೋಟವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ತಾನು ರೂಪಿಸಿದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟನು.

ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು--ಆ ಮರದ ಫಲವು ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇದಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ರಮ್ಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸತಕ್ಕದ್ದಾಗಿಯೂ ಅದೆ ಎಂದು ನೋಡಿ ಅದರ ಫಲವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತಿಂದಳು; ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ತನ್ನ ಗಂಡನಿಗೂ ಕೊಟ್ಟಳು; ಅವನೂ ತಿಂದನು.
