Deuteronomy 13:3
ಆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಕನಸು ಕಾಣುವವನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಬಾರದು. ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಶೋಧಿಸಿ ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ಣಹೃದಯದಿಂದಲೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಪ್ರಾಣದಿಂದಲೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರೇನೋ ಎಂದು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಮೃಗದ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಂಥಾ ಮಹತ್ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಜನರನ್ನು ಮೋಸಗೊಳಿಸುವದಲ್ಲದೆ ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಗಾಯಹೊಂದಿ ಬದುಕಿದ ಮೃಗಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.

ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದರು; ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮವ ರಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮವರಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನಮ್ಮವರಲ್ಲವೆಂಬದು ತೋರಿಬಂತು.

ಇದೇ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ದೇವರು ಬಲವಾದ ಭ್ರಮೆಯನ್ನು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವರು ಆ ಸುಳ್ಳನ್ನು ನಂಬುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ನಾನು ಇದನ್ನು ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಂತೆ ಹೇಳದೆ ಇತರರ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯು ಯಥಾರ್ಥವಾದದ್ದೆಂಬದನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತಪಡಿಸುವದ ಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವರು ಥೆಸಲೊನೀಕದವರಿಗಿಂತ ಸದ್ಗುಣ ವುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿದ್ದು ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಅಂಗೀ ಕರಿಸಿ ಇವರು ಹೇಳುವ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಹೌದೋ ಏನೋ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನವೂ ಬರಹಗಳನ್ನು ಶೋಧಿ ಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
