ಅಹಜ್ಯನ ತಾಯಿಯಾದ ಅತಲ್ಯಳು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನು ಸತ್ತು ಹೋದದ್ದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಎದ್ದು ರಾಜ ಸಂತಾನದವರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದಳು.

ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸ ನಾದ ಅಹಜ್ಯನು ಇದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ತೋಟದ ಮನೆಯ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಓಡಿಹೋದನು. ಯೇಹುವು ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ--ರಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವ ನನ್ನು ಸಹ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಇಬ್ಲೆಯಾಮಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗೂರ್ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗುವ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಡೆದರು. ಅವನು ಮೆಗಿದ್ದೋನಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತುಹೋದನು.

ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೇ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ ಸಂತಾನದವನಾದ ಎಲೀಷಾಮನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ ನೆತನ್ಯನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇ ಲನು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಬಂದು ಗೆದಲ್ಯ ನನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಿಚ್ಪದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಕಸ್ದೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದರು.

ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಆ ದುಷ್ಟ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯಾದ ಅತಲ್ಯಳ ಕುಮಾರರು ಕರ್ತನ ಆಲಯವನ್ನು ಒಡೆದು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಕರ್ತನ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠೆಮಾಡಿ ದವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬಾಳನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು ಅಂದನು.

ಏಳನೇ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ಅರಸನ ಸಂತಾನದವನೂ ಅರಸನ ಪ್ರಧಾನರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಆದಂಥ ಎಲೀಷಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ನೆತನ್ಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಅಹೀಕಾ ಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಮಿಚ್ಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು; ಅವರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಿಚ್ಪದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಊಟಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಆದರೆ ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗರು ಆ ಮಗನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ತಮ್ಮತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ--ಇವನೇ ಬಾಧ್ಯಸ್ಥನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ, ಬನ್ನಿರಿ; ನಾವು ಇವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಇವನ ಸ್ವಾಸ್ತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊ ಳ್ಳೋಣ ಎಂದು ಅಂದು ಕೊಂಡರು.
