ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳುವ ಅರಸನ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಏನಂದರೆ--ಅವನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕುಮಾರರನ್ನು ತನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ತನ್ನ ರಥ ಸವಾರರಾ ಗಿಯೂ ರಾಹುತರಾಗಿಯೂ ತಕ್ಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

ಸಮುವೇಲನು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಪದ್ಧತಿ ಯನ್ನು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಟ್ಟು ಒಂದು ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದು ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಟ್ಟನು. ಆಗ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಜನರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅವರವರ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

ತರುವಾಯ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ತನ ಗೋಸ್ಕರ ರಥಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕುದುರೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ತನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಓಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಐವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.

ಆಗ ಹಗ್ಗೀತಳ ಮಗನಾದ ಅದೋನೀಯನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು--ನಾನೇ ಅರಸನಾಗಿರಬೇಕು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡು ತನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ರಥಗಳನ್ನೂ ರಾಹುತ ರನ್ನೂ ತನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಓಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಐವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದನು.
