ಆದರೆ ಗತ್ ಊರಿನ ರಣವೀರನಾದ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದಂಡಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟನು.

ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾಜಕನು--ನೀನು ಏಲಾ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನಾದ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾ ತನ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಎಫೋದಿನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಒಂದು ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುತ್ತಿ ಇಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ನೀನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡರೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅದು ಒಂದೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೊಂದು ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಅದರಂಥದ್ದು ಇನ್ನಿಲ್ಲ; ಅದನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು ಅಂದನು.

ದಾವೀ ದನು ಗತ್ ಊರಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದನೆಂದು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಆ ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಇದರ ತರುವಾಯ ಏನಾಯಿತಂದರೆ, ಗೆಜೆರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಉಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಷಾತ್ಯನಾದ ಸಿಬ್ಬೆಕಾಯಿಯು ರೆಫಾಯನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದ ಸಿಪ್ಪೈನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಆಮೋಸ 2:9
ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ನಾನು ಅಮೋರಿಯನನ್ನು ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದೆನು; ಅವನ ಎತ್ತರವು ದೇವದಾರುಗಳ ಎತ್ತರದಷ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಅವನು ಓಕ್ ಮರದ ಹಾಗೆ ಬಲವಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಆದರೂ ನಾನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಫಲವನ್ನೂ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಬೇರುಗಳನ್ನೂ ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಿದೆನು.
