ಆಗ ಆಯಿಗೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗಲು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಯುದ್ಧಸ್ಥರೂ ಎದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಾದ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಆದುಕೊಂಡು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
