ಆದದರಿಂದ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳ ಕರ್ತನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳುವದೇನಂದರೆ--ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮಾಚಿಪತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ವಿಷದ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಯೆರೂಸಲೇ ಮಿನ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ಭ್ರಷ್ಟತ್ವವು ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹರಡಿದೆ.

ಈ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾದ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, ಹೌದು, ಈ ಜನರಿಗೆ, ಮಾಚಿಪತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡು ತ್ತೇನೆ. ವಿಷದ ನೀರನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯಲು ಕೊಡು ತ್ತೇನೆ.
