ಅವನು ಯೆಹೂದಕ್ಕೆ ಇದ್ದ ಕೋಟೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು.

ಅಶ್ಶೂರಿನ ಅರಸನು ಲಾಕೀಷಿನಿಂದ ತರ್ತಾನ ನನ್ನೂ ರಬ್ಸಾರೀಸನನ್ನೂ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯನ್ನೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ದಂಡನ್ನೂ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀ ಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅರಸನ ಹೊಲದ ರಾಜ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮೇಲಿನ ಕೆರೆಯ ಕಾಲುವೆಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತರು. ಅವರು ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕರೇ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.

ಯೆಹೂದ ದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ತುಂಬಿ ತುಳುಕಿ ಹಬ್ಬಿಕೊಂಡು ಕತ್ತಿ ನವರೆಗೂ ಏರುವದು; ಓ ಇಮ್ಮಾನುವೇಲನೇ, ಆ ಅರಸನ ರೆಕ್ಕೆಗಳು ಹರಡಿ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶದ ಅಗಲವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆವರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವು.

ನಾನು ಸಮಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಅದರ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳಿಗೂ ಮಾಡಿದಂತೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೂ ಅದರ ವಿಗ್ರಹ ಗಳಿಗೂ ಮಾಡದೆ ಇರುವೆನೋ?

ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಆಳಿಕೆಯ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ವರುಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸ ನಾದ ಸನ್ಹೇರೀಬನು ಬಂದು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕೋಟೆಯ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
ಯೆರೆಮಿಯ 5:10
ಅವಳ ಗೋಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ಏರಿರಿ, ಕೆಡಿಸಿರಿ; ಆದರೆ ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಾಶಮಾಡಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಅವಳ ಕೋಟೆಯ ಉಪ್ಪರಿಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಡಿರಿ; ಅವು ಕರ್ತನವುಗಳಲ್ಲ.
