Genesis 27

1 ಇಸಾಕನು ಮುದುಕನಾಗಿ ನೋಡುವದ ಕ್ಕಾಗದಷ್ಟು ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಮೊಬ್ಬಾ ದಾಗ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಹಿರೀ ಮಗನಾದ ಏಸಾವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ ಅಂದಾಗ ಅವನು ಇಸಾಕನಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ಇದ್ದೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.

2 ಆಗ ಅವನು--ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ಮುದುಕನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನನ್ನ ಸಾವಿನ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಅರಿಯೆನು.

3 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಈಗ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬತ್ತಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನೂ ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅಡವಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಬೇಟೆಯ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನೂ

4 ನಾನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡುವ ರುಚಿಯಾದ ಊಟವನ್ನೂ ಸಿದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ. ಆಗ ನಾನು ಸಾಯುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಊಟಮಾಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

5 ಇಸಾಕನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಏಸಾವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನ್ನು ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಳು. ಏಸಾವನು ಬೇಟೆಯಾಡಿ ಅದನ್ನು ತರುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಡವಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.

6 ಆಗ ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಏಸಾವನಿಗೆ--

7 ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಬೇಟೆಯ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ರುಚಿಯಾದ ಅಡಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ; ಆಗ ನಾನು ಸಾಯುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಊಟ ಮಾಡಿ ಕರ್ತನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸು ವೆನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ;

8 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಈಗ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುವ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ವಿಧೇಯನಾಗು.

9 ಈಗ ನೀನು ಮಂದೆಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಎರಡು ಒಳ್ಳೇ ಮೇಕೆಯ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ; ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಾನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವನು ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಸುವ ರುಚಿಯಾದ ಅಡಿಗೆಯನ್ನೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡುವೆನು.

10 ನೀನು ಅದನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು. ಅವನು ಸಾಯುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವಂತೆ ಊಟಮಾಡಲಿ ಅಂದಳು.

11 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯಾದ ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕ ಳಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಏಸಾವನು ರೋಮವುಳ್ಳ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ನಾನು ನುಣು ಪಾದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

12 ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಮೋಸಗಾರನಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುವೆನು. ಆಗ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ವಲ್ಲ, ಶಾಪವನ್ನೇ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳು ವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

13 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಶಾಪವು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರಲಿ; ನೀನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ವಿಧೇಯನಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ ಅಂದಳು.

14 ಆಗ ಅವನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಗೆ ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯು ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವ ರುಚಿಯಾದ ಅಡಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದಳು.

15 ತರು ವಾಯ ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಹಿರೀಮಗನಾದ ಏಸಾವನ ಒಳ್ಳೇ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಕಿರೀಮಗನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ ಉಡಿಸಿದಳು.

16 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಮೇಕೆಯ ಮರಿಗಳ ಚರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಅವನ ಕೈಗಳ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ನುಣುಪಾದ ಕೊರಳಿನ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಕಟ್ಟಿದಳು;

17 ತರುವಾಯ ತಾನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದ ರುಚಿಯಾದ ಊಟವನ್ನೂ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಯನ್ನೂ ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಳು.

18 ಆಗ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯೇ ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು--ಇಗೋ ಇದ್ದೇನೆ; ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನೀನು ಯಾರು ಅಂದನು.

19 ಯಾಕೋಬನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಹಿರೀ ಮಗನಾದ ಏಸಾವನು; ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಎದ್ದು ಕೂತು ಕೊಂಡು. ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿ ಸುವಂತೆ ನನ್ನ ಬೇಟೆಯ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಊಟಮಾಡು ಅಂದನು.

20 ಇಸಾಕನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ಇಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ ಅದು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು ಅಂದನು. ಅವನು--ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ನನ್ನೆದುರಿಗೆ ಅದು ಬರುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು ಅಂದನು.

21 ಆಗ ಇಸಾಕನುನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನೀನೇ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಏಸಾವನು ಹೌದೋ ಅಲ್ಲವೋ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿ ನೋಡುವಂತೆ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಾ ಅಂದನು.

22 ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಇಸಾಕನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದನು. ಇಸಾಕನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿ--ಸ್ವರವು ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಸ್ವರವಾಗಿದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಕೈಗಳು ಏಸಾವನ ಕೈಗಳು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

23 ಅವನ ಕೈಗಳು ಅವನ ಅಣ್ಣನಾದ ಏಸಾವನ ಕೈಗಳಂತೆ ರೋಮಗಳುಳ್ಳವುಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಯಾರೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯದೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದನು.

24 ಅವನು--ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಏಸಾವನೋ ಅಂದಾಗ ಅವನು--ನಾನೇ ಅಂದನು.

25 ಆಗ ಅವನು--ಅದನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ, ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನ ಬೇಟೆಯ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಊಟ ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು; ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅದನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನು ಊಟಮಾಡಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನು ತಂದಾಗ ಅವನು ಕುಡಿದನು.

26 ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಇಸಾಕನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ನನಗೆ ಮುದ್ದಿಡು ಅಂದನು.

27 ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟನು. ಇಸಾಕನು ಅವನ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳ ವಾಸನೆಯನ್ನು ಮೂಸಿ ನೋಡಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ--ಇಗೋ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನ ವಾಸನೆಯು ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದ ಹೊಲದ ವಾಸನೆಯಂತಿದೆ.

28 ಆದದರಿಂದ ದೇವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಆಕಾಶದ ಮಂಜನ್ನೂ ಸಾರವುಳ್ಳ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೂ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯಾದ ಧಾನ್ಯ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡಲಿ.

29 ಜನಗಳು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸಲಿ, ಜನಾಂಗಗಳು ನಿನಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬೀಳಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರಿಗೆ ನೀನು ದೊರೆ ಯಾಗಿರು. ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ನಿನಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬೀಳಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸುವವರಿಗೆ ಶಾಪವೂ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವ ವರಿಗೆ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವೂ ಆಗಲಿ ಅಂದನು.

30 ಇಸಾ ಕನು ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದ ತರುವಾಯ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಇಸಾಕನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟಾಗ ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಏಸಾವನು ಬೇಟೆಯಿಂದ ಬಂದನು.

31 ಅವನು ಸಹ ರುಚಿಯಾದ ಊಟವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದು--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಎದ್ದು ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವಂತೆ ತನ್ನ ಮಗನ ಬೇಟೆಯ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಊಟಮಾಡಲಿ ಅಂದನು.

32 ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಇಸಾಕನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಯಾರು ಅಂದಾಗ ಅವನು--ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಮಗನಾದ ಏಸಾವನು ಅಂದನು.

33 ಆಗ ಇಸಾಕನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ನಡುಗುತ್ತಾ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನೀನು ಬರುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲು ಬೇಟೆಯಾಡಿ ನನಗೆ ತಂದವನು ಯಾರು? ಅವನು ಎಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾನೆ? ನೀನು ಬರುವದರೊಳಗಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಊಟಮಾಡಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವ ದಿಸಿದೆನು. ಹೌದು, ಅವನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿರಲಿ ಅಂದನು.

34 ಏಸಾವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಅತಿ ವ್ಯಥೆಪಟ್ಟು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾದ ಸ್ವರದಿಂದ ಅತ್ತನು. ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ--ತಂದೆಯೇ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೂಡಾ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸು ಅಂದನು.

35 ಅವನು --ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನು ಮೋಸದಿಂದ ಬಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದನು.

36 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು--ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯಾಕೋಬನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲವೋ. ಈ ಎರಡು ಸಾರಿ ಅವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ವಂಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲತನ ವನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಇಗೋ, ಈಗ ನನ್ನ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನೂ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ನೀನು ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಂದಾದರೂ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸ ಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದನು.

37 ಇಸಾಕನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಏಸಾವನಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ಅವನನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ದೊರೆಯಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟು ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸೇವಕ ರನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಧಾನ್ಯದಿಂದಲೂ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸ ದಿಂದಲೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಪೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಈಗ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನಿನಗೆ ನಾನು ಏನು ಮಾಡಲಿ ಅಂದನು.

38 ಏಸಾವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯೇ, ಆ ಒಂದೇ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವು ನಿನಗೆ ಇದೆಯೋ? ತಂದೆಯೇ, ನನ್ನನ್ನೂ ಹೌದು, ನನ್ನನ್ನೂ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸು ಎಂದು ಅವನು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿ ಅತ್ತನು.

39 ಆಗ ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಇಸಾಕನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ನಿನ್ನ ನಿವಾಸವು ಭೂಮಿಯಸಾರ ದಿಂದಲೂ ಆಕಾಶದ ಮಂಜಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಇರುವದು.

40 ನಿನ್ನ ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದಲೇ ನೀನು ಬದುಕುವಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸುವಿ; ಆದರೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಪ್ರಭುತ್ವವು ಬಂದಾಗ ಆಗುವದೇನಂದರೆ, ಅವನ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೊರಳಿನಿಂದ ಮುರಿದು ಹಾಕುವಿ.

41 ತಂದೆಯು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಏಸಾವನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಗೆಮಾಡಿ--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೋಸ್ಕರ ದುಃಖಪಡುವ ದಿನಗಳು ಸವಿಾಪ ವಾಗಿವೆ, ತರುವಾಯ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ ನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವೆನು ಎಂದು ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.

42 ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಹಿರೀ ಮಗನಾದ ಏಸಾವನ ಮಾತುಗಳು ತಿಳಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ಆಕೆಯು ತನ್ನ ಕಿರೀ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನು ಕರೇಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ ನಾದ ಏಸಾವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂತೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

43 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಈಗ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ವಿಧೇಯನಾಗು; ಎದ್ದು ಹಾರಾನಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಲಾಬಾನನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗು.

44 ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನ ಕೋಪವು ತೀರುವ ವರೆಗೆ ಕೆಲವು ದಿವಸಗಳು ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಇರು.

45 ನಿನ್ನ ಕಡೆಗಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನ ಕೋಪವು ತೀರಿಹೋಗಿ ನೀನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಅವನು ಮರೆಯುವ ವರೆಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಇರು. ತರುವಾಯ ನಾನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಕರೆಯಿಸುವೆನು. ಒಂದೇ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮಿಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಕಳಕೊಳ್ಳುವದು ಯಾಕೆ ಅಂದಳು.

46 ತರುವಾಯ ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳು ಇಸಾಕನಿಗೆ--ಹೇತನ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಗಳ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಜೀವ ನನಗೆ ಬೇಸರವಾಗಿದೆ; ಹೇತನ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಗಳಂತಿರುವ ಈ ದೇಶದ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬಳನ್ನು ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡರೆ ನಾನು ಬದುಕುವದರಿಂದ ನನಗೇನು ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ ಅಂದಳು.

1 And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.

2 And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:

3 Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;

4 And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.

5 And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.

6 And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the Lord before my death.

8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:

10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:

12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.

13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.

14 And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.

15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:

16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:

17 And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.

18 And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?

19 And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

20 And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the Lord thy God brought it to me.

21 And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.

22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

23 And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.

24 And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am.

25 And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine, and he drank.

26 And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.

27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed:

28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:

29 Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.

32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.

33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.

34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.

35 And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.

36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?

37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?

38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.

39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;

40 And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

42 And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.

43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;

44 And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother’s fury turn away;

45 Until thy brother’s anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?

46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?

Matthew 16 in Tamil and English

1 ফরীশী ও সদ্দূকীরা যীশুরকাছেএসেতাঁকে পরীক্ষা করতে চাইলেন৷ তাই তারা ঐশ্বরিক শক্তির চিহ্নস্বরূপ কোন অলৌকিক কাজ করে দেখাতে বললেন৷
The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

2 এর উত্তরে যীশু তাদের বললেন, ‘সন্ধ্যা হলে তোমরা বলে থাকো দিনে আবহাওয়া ভাল থাকবে, কারণ আকাশের রঙ লাল হয়েছে৷
He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

3 আবার সকাল বেলা বলে থাকো, আজকে ঝোড়ো আবহাওয়া চলবে কারণ আজ আকাশ লাল ও অন্ধকার হয়েছে৷ তোমরা আকাশের অবস্থা ভালই বিচার করে বোঝ, অথচ কালের চিহ্ন বুঝতে পারো না৷
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

4 এ যুগের দুষ্ট ও ভ্রষ্টাচারী লোকেরা চিহ্নের খোঁজ করে, কিন্তু য়োনার চিহ্ন ছাড়া আর কোন চিহ্নই তাদের দেখানো হবে না৷’ এরপর যীশু তাদের ছেড়ে সেখান থেকে চলে গেলেন৷
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

5 যীশু ও তাঁর শিষ্যরা হ্রদের ওপারে যাবার সময় সঙ্গে রুটি নিয়ে য়েতে ভুলে গিয়েছিলেন৷
And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

6 তখন যীশু তাদের বললেন, ‘তোমরা সাবধান! ফরীশী ও সদ্দূকীদের খামির থেকে সতর্ক থেকো৷’
Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7 শিষ্যরা নিজেদেরমধ্যে বলাবলি করতেলাগলেন, ‘আমরা রুটিআনিনি বলে সন্ভবতঃ উনি এইকথা বলছেন?’
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

8 তাঁরা কি বলাবলি করছেন, তা জানতে পেরে যীশু বললেন, ‘হে অল্প-বিশ্বাসী মানুষ, তোমরা নিজেদের মধ্যে কেন বলাবলি করছ য়ে তোমাদের রুটি নেই?
Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

9 তোমরা কি বোঝ না অথবা তোমাদের কি মনে নেই সেই পাঁচ হাজার লোকের জন্য পাঁচ খানা রুটির কথা আর তারপরে কত টুকরি তোমরা ভর্তি করেছিলে?
Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 আবার সেইচার হাজার লোকের জন্য সাতখানা রুটির কথা, আর কত টুকরি তোমরা তুলে নিয়েছিলে?
Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 তোমরা কেন বুঝতে পার না য়ে আমি তোমাদের রুটির বিষয় বলিনি? আমি তোমাদের ফরীশী ও সদ্দূকীদের খামির থেকে সতর্ক থাকতে বলেছি৷’
How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 তখন তাঁরা বুঝতে পারলেন য়ে রুটির খামির থেকে তিনি তাঁদের সতর্ক হতে বলেন নি, কিন্তু বলেছিলেন তাঁরা য়েন ফরীশী ও সদ্দূকীদের শিক্ষা থেকে সাবধান হন৷
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

13 এরপর যীশু কৈসরিয়া, ফিলিপী অঞ্চলে এলেন৷ তিনি তাঁর শিষ্যদের জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, ‘মানবপুত্রকে?’ এবিষয়ে লোকে কি বলে?
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 তাঁরা বললেন, ‘কেউ কেউ বলে আপনি বাপ্তিস্মদাতা য়োহন, কেউ বলে এলীয়,আবার কেউ বলে আপনি যিরমিয়বা ভাববাদীদের মধ্যে কেউ একজন হবেন৷’
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 তিনি তাঁদের বললেন, ‘কিন্তু তোমরা কি বল, আমি কে?’
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 এর উত্তরে শিমোন পিতর বললেন, ‘আপনি সেইমশীহ (খ্রীষ্ট), জীবন্ত ঈশ্বরের পুত্র৷’
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 এর উত্তরে যীশু তাঁকে বললেন, ‘য়োনার ছেলে শিমোন, তুমি ধন্য, কোনো মানুষের কাছ থেকে একথা তুমি জাননি, কিন্তু আমার স্বর্গের পিতা একথা তোমায় জানিয়েছেন৷
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 আর আমিও তোমাকে বলছি, তুমি পিতরআর এইপাথরের ওপরেই আমি আমার মণ্ডলী গেঁথে তুলব৷ মৃত্যুর কোন শক্তিতার ওপর জয়লাভ করতে পারবে না৷
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 আমি তোমাকে স্বর্গরাজ্যের চাবিগুলি দেব, তাতে তুমি এইপৃথিবীতে যা বাঁধবে তা স্বর্গেও বেঁধে রাখা হবে৷ আর পৃথিবীতে যা হতে দেবে তা স্বর্গেও হতে দেওযা হবে৷’
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

20 এরপর যীশু তাঁর শিষ্যদের দৃঢ়ভাবে নিষেধ করে দিলেন, য়েন তারা কাউকে না বলে তিনিইখ্রীষ্ট৷
Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

21 সেই সময় থেকে যীশু তাঁর শিষ্যদের জানাতে লাগলেন য়ে তাঁকে অবশ্যইজেরুশালেমে য়েতে হবে৷ আর সেখানে কিভাবে তাঁকে ইহুদী নেতা, প্রধান যাজক ও ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষকদের কাছ থেকে অনেক কষ্ট ভোগ করতে হবে৷ তাঁকে মেরে ফেলা হবে ও তিন দিনের মাথায় তিনি মৃত্যুলোক থেকে বেঁচে উঠবেন৷
From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

22 তখন পিতর তাঁকে একপাশে ডেকে নিয়ে ভর্ত্‌সনার সুরে বললেন, ‘প্রভু, এসবের হাত থেকে ঈশ্বর আপনাকে রক্ষা করুন৷ এর কোন কিছুই আপনার প্রতি ঘটবে না৷’
Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23 যীশু পিতরের দিকে ফিরে বললেন, ‘আমার কাছ থেকে দূর হও শয়তান! তুমি আমার বাধা স্বরূপ! তুমি মানুষের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গী দিয়ে এ বিষয় চিন্তা করছ, ঈশ্বরের যা তা তুমি ভাবছ না৷’
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

24 এরপর যীশু তাঁর শিষ্যদের বললেন ‘কেউ যদি আমায় অনুসরণ করতে চায় তবে সে নিজেকে অস্বীকার করুক আর নিজের ক্রুশ তুলে নিয়ে আমার অনুসারী হোক৷
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 য়ে কেউ নিজের জীবন রক্ষা করতে চায়, সে তা হারাবে৷ কিন্তু য়ে আমার জন্য তার নিজের প্রাণ হারাতে চাইবে সে তা রক্ষা করবে৷
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 কেউ যদি সমস্ত জগত্ লাভ করে তার প্রাণ হারায় তবে তার কি লাভ? প্রাণ ফিরে পাবার জন্য তার দেবার মতো কি-ইবা থাকতে পারে?
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 মানবপুত্র যখন তাঁর স্বর্গদূতদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে তাঁর পিতার মহিমায় আসবেন, তখন তিনি প্রত্যেক লোককে তার কাজ অনুসারে প্রতিদান দেবেন৷
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28 আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি, যাঁরা এখানে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে তাদের মধ্যে এমন কেউ কেউ আছে যার কোনও মতে মৃত্যু দেখবে না, য়ে পর্যন্ত মানবপুত্রকে তাঁর রাজ্যে আসতে না দেখে৷’
Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
