1 Now the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem; in the name of the God of Israel [prophesied they] to them.ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಾದ ಹಗ್ಗಾಯನೂ ಇದ್ದೋನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಜೆಕರ್ಯನೂ ಯೆಹೂದ ಮತ್ತು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ದೇವರ ನಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸಿದರು.

2 Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem; and with them were the prophets of God, helping them.ಆಗ ಶೆಯಲ್ತಿಯೇಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಜೆರುಬ್ಬಾಬೆಲನೂ ಯೋಚಾದಾಕನ ಮಗ ನಾದ ಯೇಷೂವನೂ ಎದ್ದು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರುವ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ ದರು; ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯಕರಾಗಿ ದೇವರ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದರು.

3 At the same time came to them Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and their companions, and said thus to them, Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?ಆ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನದಿಯ ಈಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತತ್ತೆನೈನೆಂಬ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯೂ ಶೆತ ರ್ಬೋಜೆನೈಯೂ, ಅವರ ಜೊತೆಗಾರರೂ ಅವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು--ಈ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಈ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿತೀರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟವರು ಯಾರೆಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರು.

4 Then we told them after this manner, what the names of the men were who were making this building.ಆಗ ನಾವು ಈ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ತರುವಾಯ ಈ ಕಟ್ಟುವಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಹೆಸರುಗಳೇನೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರು.

5 But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and they did not make them cease, until the matter should come to Darius, and then answer should be returned by letter concerning it.ಆದರೆ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವು ದಾರ್ಯಾವೆಷನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುವ ವರೆಗೂ ಅವರು ಇವರನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸದ ಹಾಗೆ ಇವರ ದೇವರ ಕಣ್ಣು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಇತ್ತು. ಆಗ ಇದನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಅವರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವನ್ನು ಪತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.

6 The copy of the letter that Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and his companions the Apharsachites, who were beyond the River, sent to Darius the king;ನದಿಯ ಈಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ತತ್ತೆ ನೈಯೂ ಶೆತರ್ಬೋಜೆನೈಯೂ ನದಿಯ ಈಚೆಯ ಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಪರ್ಸತ್ಕಾಯರಾದ ಅವನ ಜೊತೆಗಾರರೂ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾರ್ಯಾವೆಷನಿಗೆ ಬರೆದು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಪತ್ರದ ಪ್ರತಿ.

7 they sent a letter to him, in which was written thus: To Darius the king, all peace.ಅವರು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಪತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ--

8 Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls; and this work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾರ್ಯಾವೆಷನಿಗೆ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸಮಾ ಧಾನವು. ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನಾವು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಹಾದೇವರ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದೆವು; ಅದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ; ಗೋಡೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ತೊಲೆಗಳು ಹೊದಿಸ ಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿವೆ; ಆ ಕೆಲಸವು ತೀವ್ರವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಅವರ ಕೈಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

9 Then asked we those elders, and said to them thus, Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?ಆಗ ಈ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಈ ಗೋಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೀರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟವರು ಯಾರೆಂದು ನಾವು ಆ ಹಿರಿಯರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೆವು.

10 We asked them their names also, to inform you that we might write the names of the men who were at the head of them.ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಹೆಸರುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಬರೆದು ತಿಳಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವರ ಹೆಸರುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೆವು.

11 Thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and are building the house that was built these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.ಅವರು ನಮಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವೇನಂದರೆನಾವು ಪರಲೋಕ ಮತ್ತು ಭೂಲೋಕಗಳ ದೇವರ ಸೇವಕರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಅನೇಕ ವರುಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಹಾ ಅರಸನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ತೀರಿಸಿದ್ದ ಆಲಯವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.

12 But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಗಳು ಪರಲೋಕದ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೋಪವನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದ ತರುವಾಯ ಆತನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಸ್ದೀಯರ ದೇಶದವನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕ ದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಅವನು ಈ ಆಲಯವನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿ ಜನರನ್ನು ಬಾಬೆಲಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದನು.

13 But in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree to build this house of God.ಆದರೆ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸ ನಾದ ಕೋರೆಷನು ಮೊದಲನೇ ವರುಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಸ ನಾದ ಕೋರೆಷನು ದೇವರ ಈ ಆಲಯವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಲು ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

14 The gold and silver vessels also of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಂದಿರದಿಂದ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಬಂಗಾರದ ಸಾಮಾನುಗಳನ್ನು ಅರಸನಾದ ಕೋರೆ ಷನು ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಮಂದಿರದಿಂದ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ತಾನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಶೆಷ್ಬಚ್ಚರನಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಅವ ನಿಗೆ--

15 and he said to him, Take these vessels, go, put them in the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be built in its place.ಈ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಯೆರೂ ಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗು; ದೇವರ ಆಲಯವು ಅದರ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಲ್ಪಡಲಿ ಅಂದನು.

16 Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundations of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now has it been in building, and yet it is not completed.ಅಗ ಶೆಷ್ಬಚ್ಚರನು ಬಂದು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿ ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರವನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಸಿ ದನು. ಆ ದಿವಸದಿಂದ ಇದು ವರೆಗೂ ಅದು ಕಟ್ಟಲ್ಪ ಡುತ್ತದೆ; ಇನ್ನೂ ಮುಗಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದರು.

17 Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure-house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem; and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿದರೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಲು ಅರಸನಾದ ಕೋರೆಷನು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಉಂಟೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ ಹುಡುಕು; ಬಾಬೆಲಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅರಸನ ಬೊಕ್ಕಸದ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಲ್ಪಡಲಿ. ತರುವಾಯ ಅರಸನು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ತನ್ನ ಚಿತ್ತವೇನೆಂದು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಿ.
