ಏಸಾವನು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ--ಆ ಕೆಂಪಾದ ಪದಾರ್ಥವನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು, ನಾನು ದಣಿದಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಅಂದನು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಎದೋಮ್‌ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು.
