Ecclesiastes 2
12 ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನೂ ಹುಚ್ಚುತನವನ್ನೂ ಮೂಢತೆಯನ್ನೂ ನೋಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡೆನು; ಅರಸನ ತರುವಾಯ ಬರುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಏನು ಮಾಡಾನು? ಮೊದಲಿದ್ದದ್ದು ಆಗಲೇ ನಡೆಯಿತು.
13 ಆಗ ಕತ್ತಲೆಗಿಂತ ಬೆಳಕು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಮೂಢತನಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಜ್ಞಾನವು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಕಂಡೆನು.
14 ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಅವನ ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನು ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಒಂದೇ ಗತಿಯು ಸಂಭವಿಸುವದೆಂದು ನನ್ನಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನೇ ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡೆನು.
15 ಆಗ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ --ಮೂಢನಿಗೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸುವಂತೆ ನನಗೂ ಸಂಭವಿಸು ತ್ತದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಯಾಕೆ ನಾನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಇದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡೆನು. ಆಗ ನಾನು ಇದೂ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೆಂದು ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದು ಕೊಂಡೆನು.
16 ಮೂಢನಿಗಿಂತ ಜ್ಞಾನವಂತನ ಜ್ಞಾಪ ಕವು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಇರುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಈಗ ಇರುವದು ಬರುವ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೂಢನಂತೆ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯೂ ಸಾಯುವದು ಹೇಗೆ?
12 And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the king? even that which hath been already done.
13 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.
14 The wise man’s eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all.
15 Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity.
16 For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool.

12 ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನೂ ಹುಚ್ಚುತನವನ್ನೂ ಮೂಢತೆಯನ್ನೂ ನೋಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡೆನು; ಅರಸನ ತರುವಾಯ ಬರುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಏನು ಮಾಡಾನು? ಮೊದಲಿದ್ದದ್ದು ಆಗಲೇ ನಡೆಯಿತು.

15 ಆಗ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ --ಮೂಢನಿಗೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸುವಂತೆ ನನಗೂ ಸಂಭವಿಸು ತ್ತದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಯಾಕೆ ನಾನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಇದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡೆನು. ಆಗ ನಾನು ಇದೂ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೆಂದು ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದು ಕೊಂಡೆನು.
Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity.
16 ಮೂಢನಿಗಿಂತ ಜ್ಞಾನವಂತನ ಜ್ಞಾಪ ಕವು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಇರುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಈಗ ಇರುವದು ಬರುವ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೂಢನಂತೆ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯೂ ಸಾಯುವದು ಹೇಗೆ?
