1 Now after this, David, questioning the Lord, said, Am I to go up into any of the towns of Judah? And the Lord said to him, Go up. And David said, Where am I to go? And he said, To Hebron.ಇದಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು -- ಯೆಹೂದದ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವದಕ್ಕಾದರೂ ಹೋಗಲೋ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಕರ್ತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಹೋಗು ಅಂದನು. ದಾವೀ ದನು--ನಾನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಕ್ಕೆ ಆತನು -- ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಅಂದನು.

2 So David went there, taking with him his two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel, and Abigail, the wife of Nabal of Carmel.ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅವನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರಾದ ಇಜ್ರೇಲಿಯವಳಾಗಿರುವ ಅಹಿನೋವಮಳೂ ಕರ್ಮೆ ಲ್ಯನನಾದ ನಾಬಾಲನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಬೀ ಗೈಲಳೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.

3 And David took all his men with him, every man with his family: and they were living in the towns round Hebron.ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಅವರವರ ಮನೆಯವರನ್ನೂ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದನು; ಅವರು ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿನ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

4 And the men of Judah came there, and with the holy oil made David king over the people of Judah. And word came to David that it was the men of Jabesh-gilead who put Saul's body in its last resting-place.ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದ ಜನರು ಬಂದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದನ ಮನೆಯವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಿದರು.

5 And David sent to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, May the Lord give you his blessing, because you have done this kind act to Saul your lord, and have put his body to rest!ಯಾಬೇಷ್‌ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನವರು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟ ರೆಂದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ--ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಯಜಮಾನನಾದ ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಈ ದಯೆಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟ ಕಾರಣ ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವಾಗಲಿ.

6 May the Lord be good and true to you: and I myself will see that your kind act is rewarded, because you have done this thing.ಈಗ ಕರ್ತನು ನಿಮಗೆ ದಯೆಯನ್ನೂ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನೂ ತೋರಿಸಲಿ. ನೀವು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುಪಕಾರ ಮಾಡುವೆನು.

7 Then let your hands be strong, and have no fear: though Saul your lord is dead, the people of Judah have made me their king.ನೀವು ಪರಾ ಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗಳು ಬಲವಾಗಿರಲಿ; ನಿಮ್ಮ ಯಜಮಾನನಾದ ಸೌಲನು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದನು; ಯೆಹೂದನ ಮನೆಯವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅಭಿಷೇಕಮಾಡಿದರು ಅಂದನು.

8 Now Abner, the son of Ner, captain of Saul's army, had taken Saul's son Ish-bosheth over to Mahanaim,ಆದರೆ ಸೌಲನ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ನೇರನ ಮಗ ನಾಗಿರುವ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಸೌಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಈಷ್ಬೋ ಶೆತನನ್ನು ಮಹನಯಿಮಿಗೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ

9 And made him king over Gilead and the Asherites and over Jezreel and Ephraim and Benjamin, that is, over all Israel.ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಆಶೇರ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಇಜ್ರೇಲಿಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಎಫ್ರಾ ಯಾಮ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿ ದನು.

10 (Saul's son Ish-bosheth was forty years old when he became king over Israel, and he was ruler for two years.) But Judah was on the side of David.ಸೌಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದಾಗ ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತು ವರುಷ ಪ್ರಾಯದವನಾಗಿದ್ದು ಎರಡು ವರುಷ ಆಳಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೂದನ ಮನೆಯವರು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದರು.

11 And the time when David was king in Hebron over the people of Judah was seven years and six months.ದಾವೀದನು ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದನ ಮನೆಯವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನಾಗಿದ್ದ ದಿವಸಗಳು ಏಳು ವರುಷ ಆರು ತಿಂಗಳು.

12 And Abner, the son of Ner, with the servants of Saul's son Ish-bosheth, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ಅಬ್ನೇರನೂ ಸೌಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನ ಸೇವಕರೂ ಮಹನಯಿಮಿ ನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

13 And Joab, the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out and came face to face with them by the pool of Gibeon; and they took up their position, facing one another on opposite sides of the pool.ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋವಾಬನೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರೂ ಹೊರಟು ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನ ಕೊಳದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದರು; ಅವರು ಕೊಳದ ಆಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇವರು ಕೊಳದ ಈಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕೂತುಕೊಂಡರು.

14 And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men give a test of their strength before us. And Joab said, Let them do so.ಆಗ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ--ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರು ಎದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಆಡಲಿ ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋವಾಬನು--ಅವರು ಏಳಲಿ ಅಂದನು.

15 So they got up and went over by number: twelve for Benjamin and Ish-bosheth and twelve of the servants of David.ಹಾಗೆ ಯೇ ಸೌಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನ ಕಡೆಯವ ರಾದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿಯೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿಯೂ ಎದ್ದು ಹೊರಟು ಒಬ್ಬರ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಒಬ್ಬರು ಹಿಡಿದು ಒಬ್ಬರ ಪಕ್ಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತಿವಿದು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರು.

16 And every one got the other by the head, driving his sword into the other's side, so they all went down together: and that place was named the Field of Sides, and it is in Gibeon.ಆದದರಿಂದ ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿ ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಲ್ಕಚ್ಚೂರಿಮ್‌ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಾ ಯಿತು.

17 And there was hard fighting that day; and Abner and the men of Israel gave way before the servants of David.ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಘೋರವಾದ ಯುದ್ಧವಾಯಿತು. ಅಬ್ನೇರನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಜನ ರೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು.

18 There were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab and Abishai and Asahel: and Asahel was as quick-footed as a roe of the fields.ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮೂವರು ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದ ಯೋವಾ ಬನೂ ಅಬಿಷೈಯೂ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರು. ಅಸಾಹೇಲನು ಅಡವಿಯ ಜಿಂಕೆಯ ಹಾಗೆ ಪಾದ ತ್ವರಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

19 Asahel went running after Abner, not turning to the right or to the left.ಅಸಾಹೇಲನು ಅಬ್ನೇರನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಅಬ್ನೇರನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಗಡೆ ಗಾದರೂ ಎಡಗಡೆಗಾದರೂ ತಿರುಗದೆ ಇದ್ದನು.

20 Then Abner, looking back, said, Is it you, Asahel? And he said, It is I.ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ನೋಡಿನೀನು ಅಸಾಹೇಲನಲ್ಲವೇ ಅಂದನು.

21 And Abner said, Then go to the right or to the left and put your hands on one of the fighting-men and take his arms. But Asahel would not be turned away from going after Abner.ಅದಕ್ಕವನುನಾನೇ ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಬಲಗಡೆಗಾದರೂ ಎಡಗಡೆಗಾದರೂ ತಿರುಗಿ ಯೌವ ನಸ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಅವನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೋ ಅಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನು ಅವನ ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದ್ದನು.

22 Then again Abner said to Asahel, Go to one side, do not keep on coming after me: why will you make me put an end to you? for then I will be shamed before your brother Joab.ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಅಸಾಹೇಲನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುವದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗು; ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೆಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಡೆದು ಬಿಡುವದು ಯಾಕೆ? ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋ ದರನಾದ ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಮುಖತೋರಿಸುವದು ಹೇಗೆ ಅಂದನು.

23 But still he did not go to one side: so Abner gave him a back blow in the stomach with his spear, so that the spear came out at his back; and he went down on the earth, wounded to death: and all those who came to the place where Asahel went down dead, came to a stop.ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಹೋಗುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪದೆಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ತನ್ನ ಬರ್ಜಿಯ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದ ಮೊನೆಯಿಂದ ಅವನ ಪಕ್ಕೆಯ ಐದನೇ ಎಲುಬಿನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಹಾಯುವಂತೆ ತಿವಿದನು; ಅದು ಅವನ ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂತು. ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದು ಅದೇ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತನು. ಆಗ ಏನಾಯಿಯತಂದರೆ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನು ಬಿದ್ದು ಸತ್ತ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ನಿಂತರು.

24 But Joab and Abishai went after Abner: and the sun went down when they came to the hill of Ammah, which is to the east of the road through the waste land of Geba.ಆದರೆ ಯೋವಾ ಬನೂ ಅಬಿಷೈಯೂ ಅಬ್ನೇರನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಸೂರ್ಯಅಸ್ತಮಿಸುವ ವರೆಗೆ ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಮಾರ್ಗದ ಅಂಚಾದ ಗೀಯಕ್ಕೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿರುವ ಅಮ್ಮಾ ಎಂಬ ಗುಡ್ಡದ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೂ ಬಂದರು.

25 And the men of Benjamin came together after Abner in one band, and took their places on the top of a hill.ಆಗ ಅಬ್ನೇರನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ಸೈನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಒಂದು ಗುಡ್ಡದ ಶಿಖರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರು.

26 Then crying out to Joab, Abner said, Are fighting and destruction to go on for ever? do you not see that the end will only be bitter? how long will it be before you send the people back and make them give up attacking their countrymen?ಆಗ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ--ಕತ್ತಿಯು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನುಂಗಿಬಿಡುವದೋ? ಅಂತ್ಯ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದು ಕಹಿಯಾಗಿರುವದೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗು ವದಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸು ವದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಕಾಲ ಹೇಳದೆ ಇರುವಿ ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.

27 And Joab said, By the living God, if you had not given the word, the people would have gone on attacking their countrymen till the morning.ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋವಾಬನು--ದೇವರ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ, ಉದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಮಾತನಾಡದೆ ಹೋದರೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಯ ವಾಗಿ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋ ದರನ ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು ಅಂದನು.

28 So Joab had a horn sounded, and all the people came to a stop, and gave up going after Israel and fighting them.ಹೀಗೆ ಯೋವಾಬನು ತುತೂರಿಯನ್ನು ಊದಿ ದನು. ಆಗ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನಿಂತರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಲಿಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.

29 And all that night Abner and his men went through the Arabah; they went over Jordan and through all Bithron and came to Mahanaim.ಅಬ್ನೇ ರನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬೈಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಬಿಥ್ರೋನಿನಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹಾದು ಮಹನಯಿಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

30 And Joab came back from fighting Abner: and when he had got all his men together, it was seen that nineteen of David's men, in addition to Asahel, were not with them.ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅಬ್ನೇರನ ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತೊಂಭತ್ತು ಜನರೂ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನೂ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

31 But David's men had put to death three hundred and sixty of the men of Benjamin and of Abner's menಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರು ಬೆನ್ಯಾ ವಿಾನ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅಬ್ನೇರನ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮುನ್ನೂರ ಅರವತ್ತು ಜನರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಸತ್ತರು.

32 And they took Asahel's body and put it in the last resting-place of his father in Beth-lehem. And Joab and his men, travelling all night, came to Hebron at dawn.ಅವರು ಅಸಾಹೇಲನನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟರು. ಯೋವಾಬನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ರಾತ್ರಿಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಡೆದು ಉದಯವಾದಾಗ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
