2 Samuel 18:20
ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ವರ್ತಮಾನ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬೇಡ; ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ದಿವಸ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗ ಬಹುದು. ಅರಸನ ಮಗನು ಸತ್ತದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನೀನು ವರ್ತಮಾನ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗ ಬೇಡ ಅಂದನು.

ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೂ ಅಬೀ ಷೈಯನಿಗೂ ಇತ್ತೈಗೂ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ--ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅರಸನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕೊಟ್ಚ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಕೇಳಿದರು.

ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅರಸನು--ಅವನು ಸಹ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬರುತ್ತಾನೆ ಅಂದನು. ಕಾವಲುಗಾರನುಮೊದಲನೆಯವನ ಓಟವು ಚಾದೋಕನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಹೀಮಾಚನ ಓಟದ ಹಾಗೆ ಇರುವದೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅರಸನು--ಅವನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವನು, ಒಳ್ಳೇ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ತರುತ್ತಾನೆ ಅಂದನು.

ಅರಸನು-- ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಕ್ಷೇಮವೋಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಹೀಮಾಚನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅರಸನ ಸೇವಕನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಾಗ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಮೂಹ ವನ್ನು ಕಂಡೆನು. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಏನೋ ನಾನರಿಯೆ ಅಂದನು.

ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ನಡುಗುತ್ತಾ ಊರ ಬಾಗಲು ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಕೊಠಡಿಗೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋದನು; ಹೋಗು ವಾಗ ಅತ್ತು--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೇ ನಿನಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಸತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ಅಂದನು.
