ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಇರುವ ತನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ--ಏಳಿರಿ, ನಾವು ಓಡಿ ಹೋಗೋಣ; ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ಕೈ ಯಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಲಾರೆವು; ಅವನು ಪಕ್ಕನೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆಯದ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗುವದಕ್ಕೆ ತ್ವರೆಮಾಡಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
