ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಜಾವದಿಂದ ಮಾರ ನೆಯ ದಿವಸದ ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದವರೆಗೂ ಸಂಹರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂಟೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿ ಓಡಿಹೋದ ನಾನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರ ಹೊರತು ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ.
