1 Samuel 18:8
ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಬಹು ಕೋಪವಾಯಿತು; ಆ ಮಾತು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವ್ಯಸನಕರವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇವರು ದಾವೀದ ನಿಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ನನಗೆ ಸಾವಿರ ಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಅವನಿಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯವಲ್ಲದೆ ಇನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನು ಅಂದನು.

ಜನರು ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟಿದಾಗ ಅದು ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಗೆಯಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕರ್ತನು ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕೋಪಿಸಿಗೊಂಡನು. ಕರ್ತನ ಬೆಂಕಿಯು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತಿ ಪಾಳೆಯದ ಕಟ್ಟಕಡೆಯ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ದಹಿಸಿತು.
