அப்பொழுது எபெத்மெலேக் ராஜாவின் அரமனையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுப்போய், ராஜாவை நோக்கி:

பட்டயத்திற்குத் தப்பியிருந்த, மக்கள் வனாந்திரத்தில் இரக்கம்பெற்றார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு இளைப்பாறுதலைக் கட்டளையிடப்போகிறேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

கர்த்தர் கூறுகிறார்: “ஜனங்களில் சிலர் பகைவரின் வாளால் கொல்லப்படவில்லை. அந்த ஜனங்கள் வனாந்தரத்திற்குத் தப்பி ஓடி, ஆறுதலடைவார்கள், இஸ்ரவேலர் இளைப்பாறுதலைத் தேடி அங்கு போவார்கள்.”
