எழும்பு, எழும்பு, சீயோனே, உன் வல்லமையைத் தரித்துக்கொள்; பரிசுத்த நகரமாகிய எருசலேமே, உன் அலங்கார வஸ்திரங்களை உடுத்திக்கொள்; விருத்தசேதனமில்லாதவனும் அசுத்தனும் இனி உன்னிடத்தில் வருவதில்லை.

“தேவனிடமிருந்து திருடுவதை நிறுத்துங்கள். ஜனங்கள் தேவனிடமிருந்து திருடக்கூடாது. ஆனால் நீங்கள் என்னிடமிருந்து திருடினீர்கள்!” நீங்கள், “நாங்கள் உம்மிடமிருந்து எதைத் திருடினோம்?” என்று கேட்கிறீர்கள். “நீங்கள் உங்களது பொருட்களில் பத்தில் ஒரு பங்கை எனக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்க வேண்டும். நீங்கள் எனக்குச் சிறப்பான காணிக்கைகளையையும் கொடுத்திருக்க வேண்டும். ஆனால் நீங்கள் அவற்றை எனக்குக் கொடுக்கவில்லை.
