நானோ: கேதுருமரங்களைப்போல் உயரமும், கர்வாலி மரங்களைப்போல் வைரமுமாயிருந்த எமோரியனை அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக அழித்தேன்; உயர இருந்த அவனுடைய கனியையும், தாழ இருந்த அவனுடைய வேர்களையும் அழித்துப்போட்டு,

அவன் தன் தேவனாகிய நிஸ்ரோகின் கோவிலிலே பணிந்துகொள்ளுகிறபோது, அவன் குமாரராகிய அத்ரமலேக்கும் சரேத்சேரும் அவனைப் பட்டயத்தினால் வெட்டிப்போட்டு, அரராத் தேசத்துக்குத் தப்பி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய எசரத்தோன் அவன் பட்டத்திற்கு வந்து அரசாண்டான்.

அவனைக் குறித்துக் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிற வசனமாவது: சீயோன் குமாரத்தியாகிய கன்னியாஸ்திரீ உன்னை இகழ்ந்து, உன்னைப் பரிகாசம்பண்ணுகிறாள்; எருசலேம் குமாரத்தி உன் பின்னாலே தலையைத் துலுக்குகிறாள்.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் ஒரு தூதனை அனுப்பினார்; அவன் அசீரியருடைய ராஜாவின் பாளயத்திலுள்ள சகல பராக்கிரமசாலிகளையும், தலைவரையும், சேனாபதிகளையும் அதம்பண்ணினான்; அப்படியே சனகெரிப் செத்தமுகமாய்த் தன்தேசத்திற்குத் திரும்பினான்; அங்கே அவன் தன் தேவனுடைய கோவிலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கிறபோது, அவனுடைய கர்ப்பப்பிறப்பான சிலர் அவனைப் பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்.

நீ உன் கோபத்தின் உக்கிரத்தை வீசி, அகந்தையுள்ளவனையெல்லாம் தேடிப்பார்த்துத் தாழ்த்திவிட்டு,

நரரின் மேட்டிமையான கண்கள் தாழ்த்தப்படும், மனுஷரின் வீறாப்பும் தணியும்; கர்த்தர் ஒருவரே அந்நாளில் உயர்ந்திருப்பார்.

ஆகையால் சேனைகளின் ஆண்டவராகிய கர்த்தர், அவனைச்சேர்ந்த கொழுத்தவர்களுக்குள்ளே இளைப்பை அனுப்புவார்; பட்சிக்கும் அக்கினியைப்போலும் ஒரு அக்கினியை அவன் மகிமையின்கீழ் கொளுத்துவார்.

உன் ஊழியக்காரரைக்கொண்டு ஆண்டவரை நிந்தித்து: என் இரதங்களின் திரளினாலே நான் மலைகளின் கொடுமுடிகளுக்கும் லீபனோனின் சிகரங்களுக்கும் வந்து ஏறினேன்; அதின் உயரமான கேதுருமரங்களையும், உச்சிதமான தேவதாரு விருட்சங்களையும் நான் வெட்டி, உயர்ந்த அதின் கடைசி எல்லைமட்டும், அதின் செழுமையான வனமட்டும் வருவேன் என்றும்,

ஆகையால் நேபுகாத்நேச்சாராகிய நான் பரலோகத்தின் ராஜாவைப் புகழ்ந்து, உயர்த்தி மகிமைப்படுத்துகிறேன்; அவருடைய கிரியைகளெல்லாம் சத்தியமும், அவருடைய வழிகள் நியாயமுமானவைகள் அகந்தையாய் நடக்கிறவர்களைத் தாழ்த்த அவராலே ஆகும் என்று எழுதினான்.

தன்னைத் தான் உயர்த்துகிறவனெவனும் தாழ்த்தப்படுவான், தன்னைத்தான் தாழ்த்துகிறவன் உயர்த்தப்படுவான் என்றார்.
