Proverbs 10
1 सुलैमान के नीतिवचन॥ बुद्धिमान पुत्र से पिता आनन्दित होता है, परन्तु मूर्ख पुत्र के कारण माता उदास रहती है।
2 दुष्टों के रखे हुए धन से लाभ नही होता, परन्तु धर्म के कारण मृत्यु से बचाव होता है।
3 धर्मी को यहोवा भूखों मरने नहीं देता, परन्तु दुष्टों की अभिलाषा वह पूरी होने नहीं देता।
4 जो काम में ढिलाई करता है, वह निर्धन हो जाता है, परन्तु कामकाजी लोग अपने हाथों के द्वारा धनी होते हैं।
5 जो बेटा धूपकाल में बटोरता है वह बुद्धि से काम करने वाला है, परन्तु जो बेटा कटनी के समय भारी नींद में पड़ा रहता है, वह लज्जा का कारण होता है।
6 धर्मी पर बहुत से आर्शीवाद होते हैं, परन्तु उपद्रव दुष्टों का मुंह छा लेता है।
7 धर्मी को स्मरण करके लोग आशीर्वाद देते हैं, परन्तु दुष्टों का नाम मिट जाता है।
8 जो बुद्धिमान है, वह आज्ञाओं को स्वीकार करता है, परन्तु जो बकवादी और मूढ़ है, वह पछाड़ खाता है।
9 जो खराई से चलता है वह निडर चलता है, परन्तु जो टेढ़ी चाल चलता है उसकी चाल प्रगट हो जाती है।
10 जो नैन से सैन करता है उस से औरों को दुख मिलता है, और जो बकवादी और मूढ़ है, वह पछाड़ खाता है।
11 धर्मी का मुंह तो जीवन का सोता है, परन्तु उपद्रव दुष्टों का मुंह छा लेता है।
12 बैर से तो झगड़े उत्पन्न होते हैं, परन्तु प्रेम से सब अपराध ढंप जाते हैं।
13 समझ वालों के वचनों में बुद्धि पाई जाती है, परन्तु निर्बुद्धि की पीठ के लिये कोड़ा है।
14 बुद्धिमान लोग ज्ञान को रख छोड़ते हैं, परन्तु मूढ़ के बोलने से विनाश निकट आता है।
15 धनी का धन उसका दृढ़ नगर है, परन्तु कंगाल लोग निर्धन होने के कारण विनाश होते हैं।
16 धर्मी का परिश्रम जीवन के लिये होता है, परन्तु दुष्ट के लाभ से पाप होता है।
17 जो शिक्षा पर चलता वह जीवन के मार्ग पर है, परन्तु जो डांट से मुंह मोड़ता, वह भटकता है।
18 जो बैर को छिपा रखता है, वह झूठ बोलता है, और जो अपवाद फैलाता है, वह मूर्ख है।
19 जहां बहुत बातें होती हैं, वहां अपराध भी होता है, परन्तु जो अपने मुंह को बन्द रखता है वह बुद्धि से काम करता है।
20 धर्मी के वचन तो उत्तम चान्दी हैं; परन्तु दुष्टों का मन बहुत हलका होता है।
21 धर्मी के वचनों से बहुतों का पालन पोषण होता है, परन्तु मूढ़ लोग निर्बुद्धि होने के कारण मर जाते हैं।
22 धन यहोवा की आशीष ही से मिलता है, और वह उसके साथ दु:ख नहीं मिलाता।
23 मूर्ख को तो महापाप करना हंसी की बात जान पड़ती है, परन्तु समझ वाले पुरूष में बुद्धि रहती है।
24 दुष्ट जन जिस विपत्ति से डरता है, वह उस पर आ पड़ती है, परन्तु धर्मियों की लालसा पूरी होती है।
25 बवण्डर निकल जाते ही दुष्ट जन लोप हो जाता है, परन्तु धर्मी सदा लों स्थिर है।
26 जैसे दांत को सिरका, और आंख को धूंआ, वैसे आलसी उन को लगाता है जो उस को कहीं भेजते हैं।
27 यहोवा के भय मानने से आयु बढ़ती है, परन्तु दुष्टों का जीवन थोड़े ही दिनों का होता है।
28 धर्मियों को आशा रखने में आनन्द मिलता है, परन्तु दुष्टों की आशा टूट जाती है।
29 यहोवा खरे मनुष्य का गढ़ ठहरता है, परन्तु अनर्थकारियों का विनाश होता है।
30 धर्मी सदा अटल रहेगा, परन्तु दुष्ट पृथ्वी पर बसने न पाएंगे।
31 धर्मी के मुंह से बुद्धि टपकती है, पर उलट फेर की बात कहने वाले की जीभ काटी जायेगी।
32 धर्मी ग्रहणयोग्य बात समझ कर बोलता है, परन्तु दुष्टों के मुंह से उलट फेर की बातें निकलती हैं॥
1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
3 The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
27 The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
29 The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
Jeremiah 40 in Tamil and English
1 जब जल्लादों के प्रधान नबूजरदान ने यिर्मयाह को रामा में उन सब यरूशलेमी और यहूदी बंधुओं के बीच हथकडिय़ों से बन्धा हुआ पाकर जो बाबुल जाने को थे छुड़ा लिया, उसके बाद यहोवा का वचन उसके पास पहुंचा।
The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.
2 जल्लादों के प्रधान नबूजरदान ने यिर्मयाह को उस समय अपने पास बुला लिया, और कहा, इस स्थान पर यह जो विपत्ति पड़ी है वह तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा की कही हुई थी।
And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.
3 ओर जैसा यहोवा ने कहा था वैसा ही उसने पूरा भी किया है। तुम लोगों ने जो यहोवा के विरुद्ध पाप किया ओर उसकी आज्ञा नहीं मानी, इस कारण तुम्हारी यह दशा हुई है।
Now the Lord hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
4 अब मैं तेरी इन हथकडिय़ों को काटे देता हूँ, और यदि मेरे संग बाबुल में जाना तुझे अच्छा लगे तो चल, वहां मैं तुझ पर कृपादृष्टि रखूंगा; और यदि मेरे संग बाबुल जाना तुझे न भाए, तो यहीं रह जा। देख, सारा देश तेरे साम्हने पड़ा हे, जिधर जाना तुझे अच्छा और ठीक जंचे उधर ही चला जा।
And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
5 वह वहीं था कि नबूजरदान ने फिर उस से कहा, गदल्याह जो अहीकाम का पुत्र और शापान का पोता है, जिस को बाबुल के राजा ने यहूदा के नगरों पर अधिकारी ठहराया है, उसके पास लौट जा और उसके संग लोगों के बीच रह, वा जहां कहीं तुझे जाना ठीक जान पड़े वहीं चला जा। से जल्लादों के प्रधान ने उसको सीधा और कुछ द्रव्य भी देकर विदा किया।
Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
6 तब यिर्मयाह अहीकाम के पुत्र गदल्याह के पास मिस्पा को गया, और वहां उन लोगों के बीच जो देश में रह गए थे, रहने लगा।
Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
7 योद्धाओं के जो दल दिहात में थे, जब उनके सब प्रधानों ने अपने जनों समेत सुना कि बाबुल के राजा ने अहीकाम के पुत्र गदल्याह को देश का अधिकारी ठहराया है, और देश के जिन कंगाल लोगों को वह बाबुल को नहीं ले गया, क्या पुरुष, क्या स्त्री, क्या बाल-बच्चे, उन सभों को उसे सौंप दिया है,
Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
8 तब नतन्याह का पुत्र इश्माएल, कारेह के पुत्र योहानान, योनातान और तन्हूसेत का पुत्र सरायाह, एपै नतोपावासी के पुत्र और किसी माकावासी का पुत्र याजन्याह अपने जनों समेत गदल्याह के पास मिस्पा में आए।
Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
9 और गदल्याह जो अहीकाम का पुत्र और शापान का पोता था, उसने उन से और उनके जनों से शपथ खाकर कहा, कसदियों के आधीन रहने से मत डरो। इसी देश में रहते हुए बाबुल के राजा के आधीन रहो तब तुम्हारा भला होगा।
And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10 मैं तो इसीलिये मिस्पा में रहता हूं कि जो कसदी लोग हमारे यहां आएं, उनके साम्हने हाज़िर हुआ करूं; परन्तु तुम दाखमधु और धूपकाल के फल और तेल को बटोर के अपने बरतनों में रखो और अपने लिए हुए नगरों में बसे रहो।
As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
11 फिर जब मोआबियों, अम्मोनियों, एदोमियों और अन्य सब जातियों के बीच रहने वाले सब यहूदियों ने सुना कि बाबुल के राजा ने यहूदियों में से कुछ लोगों को बचा लिया और उन पर गदल्याह को जो अहीकाम का पुत्र और शापान का पोता है अधिकारी नियुक्त किया है,
Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
12 तब सब यहूदी जिन जिन स्थानों में तितर-बितर हो गए थे, वहां से लौट कर यहूदा देश के मिस्पा नगर में गदल्याह के पास, और बहुत दाखमधु और धूपकाल के फल बटोरने लगे।
Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
13 तब कारेह का पुत्र योहानान और मैदान में रहने वाले योद्धाओं के सब दलों के प्रधान मिस्पा में गदल्याह के पास आकर कहने लगे, क्या तू जानता है
Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
14 कि अम्मोनियों के राजा बालीस ने नतन्याह के पुत्र इश्माएल को तुझे जान से मारने के लिये भेजा है? परन्तु अहीकाम के पुत्र गदल्याह ने उनकी प्रतीति न की।
And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
15 फिर कारेह के पुत्र योहानान ने गदल्याह से मिस्पा में छिप कर कहा, मुझे जा कर नतन्याह के पुत्र इश्माएल को मार डालने दे ओर कोई इसे न जानेगा। वह क्यों तुझे मार डाले, और जितने यहूदी लोग तेरे पास इकट्ठे हुए हैं वे क्यों तितर-बितर हो जाएं और बचे हुए यहूदी क्यों नाश हों?
Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
16 अहीकाम के पुत्र गदल्याह ने कारेह के पुत्र योहानान से कहा, ऐसा काम मत कर, तू इश्माएल के विषय में झूठ बोलता है।
But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.
