फिर राजा ने हिल्किय्याह शापान के पुत्र अहीकाम, मीका के पुत्र अब्दोन, शापान मंत्री और असायाह नाम अपने कर्मचारी को आज्ञा दी,

परन्तु शापान का पुत्र अहीकाम यिर्मयाह की सहायता करने लगा और वह लोगों के वश में वध होने के लिये नहीं दिया गया।

वह वहीं था कि नबूजरदान ने फिर उस से कहा, गदल्याह जो अहीकाम का पुत्र और शापान का पोता है, जिस को बाबुल के राजा ने यहूदा के नगरों पर अधिकारी ठहराया है, उसके पास लौट जा और उसके संग लोगों के बीच रह, वा जहां कहीं तुझे जाना ठीक जान पड़े वहीं चला जा। से जल्लादों के प्रधान ने उसको सीधा और कुछ द्रव्य भी देकर विदा किया।

यिर्मयाह 41:2
तब नतन्याह के पुत्र इश्माएल और उसके संग के दस जनों ने उठ कर गदल्याह को, जो अहीकाम का पुत्र और शपान का पोता था, ओर जिसे बाबुल के राजा ने देश का अधिकारी ठहराया था, उसे तलवार से ऐसा मारा कि वह मर गया।
