તેઓએ પોતાના પિતૃના નામ ઉપરથી તે નગરનું નામ ‘દાન’ પાડયું; દાન, જે ઈસ્રાએલમાં જન્મ્યો હતો, પણ તેનું મૂળ નામ ‘લાઈશ’ હતું.
