અહાઝયા સમરૂનમાં સંતાઇ ગયો હતો. ત્યાંથી તેને પકડીને યેહૂ પાસે લઇ આવ્યા અને તેને ત્યાં મારી નાખ્યો, તેમણે તેને દફનાવ્યો ખરો, કારણકે, તેમણે કહ્યું કે, “એ યહોવાના સાચા ભકત યહોશાફાટનો વંશજ છે.”પછી અહાઝયાનુ કુટુંબ કોઇ રાજ કરવા જેટલું બળવાન રહ્યું નહિ.

તેણે પોતાની શેઠાણીને કહ્યું, “હું ઇચ્છું છું કે, ઇશ્વર કરે ને માંરા શેઠ પ્રબોધક પાસે સમરૂનમાં જાય, તેઓ તેના ચામડીના રોગનો ઇલાજ કરશે!”

પછી આહાબને નામે પત્રો ઈઝેબેલે લખ્યા, તે પર મહોર છાપીને બંધ કર્યા અને નાબોથ રહેતો હતો તે યિઝયેલ નગરના વડીલો અને આગેવાનોને એ પત્રો તેણે મોકલી આપ્યા.

ત્યારબાદ તેણે શેમેર નામની વ્યકિત પાસેથી સમરૂનની ટેકરી સમરૂન પર્વત લગભગ 68 કિલો ચાંદી આપીને ખરીદી લીધી અને તેના પર તેણે શહેર બંધાવ્યું અને શેમેરના નામ પરથી તેનું નામ સમરૂન પાડયું.

તેને ચાલીસ પુત્રો અને ત્રીસ પૌત્રો હતાં. જેઓ સીત્તેર ગધેડાઓ ઉપર સવારી કરતા, તેણે ઈસ્રાએલીઓ ઉપર આઠ વર્ષ સુધી શાસન કર્યું.

તેને 30 પુત્રો હતાં અને તેઓ 30 ગધેડા ઉપર સવારી કરતાં હતાં. તેઓના ગિલયાદમાં 30 નગરો હતાં જ આજે પણ યાઈરના નગરો તરીકે જાણીતા છે.

“તમાંરા યહોવા દેવ તમને જે બધાં નગરો આપે તેમાં તમાંરે વંશવાર ન્યાયાધીશો તથા બીજા વહીવટી અધિકારીઓની નિમણૂક કરવી, અને તેઓએ સમગ્ર દેશમાં ઉચિત ન્યાય કરવો.
