હવે યહોવા કહે છે, ‘હું તારે માંથે આફત ઊતારીશ, હું તારા કુટુંબનો નાશ કરીશ. ઇસ્રાએલમાંના તારા એકેએક વંશજને ધરતીના પડ પરથી નાશ કરીશ.

પછી યહોવાએ યેહૂને કહ્યું, “આહાબના પરિવારનો નાશ કરવા માટેની મારી આજ્ઞાનું પાલન તેઁ કર્યું છે તેથી હું તારા પુત્રને, પૌત્રને અને પ્રપૌત્રીને એમ ચોથી પેઢી સુધી તારા વંશજોને ઇસ્રાએલની ગાદી પર બેસાડીશ.”

સમરૂનમાં દાખલ થતાં જ તેણે ત્યાં બચવા પામેલા આહાબના કુટુંબીજનોની હત્યા કરી, અને આમ, યહોવાએ એલિયાને કહ્યું હતું તે મુજબ તેના વંશનો નાશ કર્યો.

ત્યાર પછી યેહૂએ આહાબના વંશના યિઝએલમાં બાકી રહેલા સૌને તેમજ તેના ઉમરાવોને, નિકટના મિત્રોને અને તેના યાજકોને મારી નાખ્યા, કોઈને જીવતો જવા ન દીધો.

આહાબને 70 પુત્રો હતા જે સમરૂનમાં રહેતા હતા. યેહૂએ સમરૂન શહેરના અમલદારોને, વડીલોને અને આહાબના વંશજોના વાલીઓને લખ્યું;

તારે તારા રાજા આહાબના કુટુંબને મારી નાખવાનું છે. ઇઝેબેલ અને તેણીના કુટુંબને મારીને હું મારા સેવકો તથા પ્રબોધકોના ખૂનનો બદલો લઇશ. આહાબના આખા કુટુંબનો નાશ કરવાનો છે.

તમાંરે તેમને સાષ્ટાંગ પ્રણામ કરવા નહિ કે તેમની પૂજા કરવી નહિ. કારણ કે હું જ તમાંરો દેવ યહોવા છું. માંરા લોકો બીજા દેવોની પૂજા કરે એ મને પસંદ નથી. જે માંરી વિરુદ્ધ પાપ કરે છે, તેઓ માંરા દુશ્મન બને છે, અને હું તેમને અને તેમના સંતાનોને ત્રીજી અને ચોથી પેઢી સુધી સજા કરીશ.
