પ્રત્યેકે પોતાના સામાંવાળાને માંરી નાખ્યો. અરામીઓ ભાગવા લાગ્યા અને ઇસ્રાએલીઓએ તેમનો પીછો પકડયો. અરામનો રાજા બેન-હદાદ કેટલાક ઘોડેસ્વારો સાથે ઘોડા પર છટકી ગયો.

પછી તે તેને ત્યાં લઈ ગયો. તેણે જોયું કે તે લોકો મેદાનમાં ચારે તરફ લાંબા થઈને પડયા હતા, તેઓ ખાઈ પીને મોજ ઉડાવતા હતા, તેઓ પલિસ્તી અને યહૂદામાંથી કબજે કરેલી પુષ્કળ લૂંટનો આનંદ માંણતા હતા.

આથી તેઓ ધૂંટણિયે પડીને ઉપર ચઢી ગયાં અને યોનાથાને તથા તેના યુવાન રક્ષકે પલિસ્તીઓ પર હુમલો કરીને તેઓને માંરી નાખ્યા.

ગિદિયોનના લશ્કરની ત્રણ ટુકડીઓએ રણશિંગડાં ફૂક્યા અને બરણીઓ ફોડી નાખી, પછી તેમના ડાબા હાથમાં મશાલો પકડી અને જમણા હાથમાં રણશિંગડા પકડયા જેથી તેઓ તેને ફૂંકી શકે પછી તેઓએ પોકાર કર્યો, “યહોવાનો જય, ગિદિયોનનો જય!”

ફરી પાછું મેં જાણ્યું કે હંમેશા વેગવાન સ્પર્ધા જીતતા નથી અને યુદ્ધોમાં બળવાનની હંમેશા જીત થતી નથી. અને ડાહ્યાં હંમેશા તેઓની રોટલી માટે કમાતા નથી. અને બુદ્ધિ હંમેશા ધન ઉપજાવતી નથી. તેમજ ચતુર હંમેશા દયા (આશીર્વાદ) દ્રષ્ટિ પામતા નથી. સમય અને આડી અવળી આકસ્મિક ઘટના તો દરેકને બને છે.
