યહોવા એણે કરેલા ખૂનનું પાપ એને પોતાને માંથે નાખશે; કારણ, એણે બે નિદોર્ષ માંણસો કે જે તેના કરતા વધારે સારા હતા, તેને માંરી નાખ્યા હતા, માંરા પિતા જાણતા નહોતા કે યોઆબે ઇસ્રાએલના સેનાધિપતિ નેરનો પુત્ર આબ્નેરનું અને યહૂદિયાના સેનાધિપતિ યેથેરના પુત્ર અમાંસાનું ખૂન કર્યુ હતું.

તેથી હવે માંરે તમને બન્ને દુષ્ટોને માંરી નાખવા જોઇએ, કેમકે તમે એક નિદોર્ષ માંણસને એના શયનખંડમાં પથારી પર માંરી નાખ્યો છે. હવે હું તેનુ લોહી તમાંરા હાથોમાંથી માંગું છું અને હું તમને ધરતી પરથી રવાના કરીશ!

તે દિવસે યહૂદાના લોકો અને ઇસ્રાએલના બધા લોકો સમજી શકયા કે નેરના પુત્ર આબ્નેરના ખૂન માંટે રાજાને દોષ આપવો ન જોઇએ કારણકે તેણે આબ્નેરને માંરવા હૂકમ કર્યો ન હતો.

દાઉદ પાસેથી પાછા આવીને, યોઆબે આબ્નેરને સંદેશવાહક મોકલ્યો. સીરાહના કૂવા પાસે તેઓ તેને મળ્યા અને ત્યાંથી પાછો લઈ આવ્યાં. પણ દાઉદને એની કશી ખબર નહોતી.
