Proverbs 13 - DBY (Gujarati)

1 A wise son [heareth] his father's instruction; but a scorner heareth not rebuke.જ્ઞાની પુત્ર પોતાના પિતાની સૂચનાઓ સાંભળે છે, ઉદ્ધત પુત્ર ઠપકાને ગણકારતો જ નથી.

2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth; but the soul of the treacherous, violence.સજ્જન પોતાની વાણીનાં હિતકારી સુફળ ભોગવે છે, પરંતુ દગાબાજ કપટી તો હિંસાનો જ ભૂખ્યો હોય છે.

3 He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his soul; destruction shall be to him that openeth wide his lips.મોં સંભાળીને બોલનાર પોતાના જીવનું રક્ષણ કરે છે. પરંતુ જીભને છૂટી મૂકનાર વિનાશ નોતરે છે.

4 A sluggard's soul desireth and hath nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.આળસુ ઇચ્છે છે ઘણું, પણ પામતો કશું નથી; પણ ઉદ્યમી વ્યકિત પૂર્ણ રીતે સંતુષ્ટ હોય છે.

5 A righteous [man] hateth lying; but the wicked maketh himself odious and cometh to shame.સદાચારી જૂઠને ધિક્કારે છે, પણ દુર્જન શરમ અને અપમાન લાવે છે.

6 Righteousness preserveth him that is perfect in the way; but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.સદાચાર ભલા માણસોનું રક્ષણ કરે છે; પણ દુરાચાર પાપીઓને પછાડી નાખે છે,

7 There is that feigneth himself rich, and hath nothing; there is that maketh himself poor, and hath great wealth.કેટલાક કશું ન હોવા છતાં ધનવાન હોવાનો દંભ કરે છે, તો કોઇ ભંડાર ભરેલા હોવા છતાં કંગાળ હોવાનો દેખાવ કરે છે.

8 The ransom of a man's life is his riches; but the indigent heareth not rebuke.ધનવાન વ્યકિત પૈસા આપીને પોતાનો જીવ બચાવે છે, પણ નિર્ધન વ્યકિતને પોતાના જીવ માટે ધમકી સાંભળવી પડતી નથી.

9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth; but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.સદાચારીઓનો દીવો ઉજવળતાથી પ્રકાશે છે, પરંતુ દુરાચારીનો દીવો હોલવી નાખવામાં આવશે.

10 By pride there only cometh contention; but with the well-advised is wisdom.અભિમાનથી તો કેવળ ઝઘડો જ થાય છે; સલાહ માનવામાં ડહાપણ છે.

11 Wealth [gotten] by vanity diminisheth; but he that gathereth by manual-labour shall increase [it].સરળતાથી મેળવેલી સંપત્તિ ટકતી નથી. પણ સખત પરિશ્રમથી મેળવેલી સંપત્તિની વૃદ્ધિ થાય છે.

12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; but the desire [that] cometh to pass is a tree of life.આકાંક્ષા પૂરી થવામાં વિલંબ થતાં હૈયુ ભારે થઇ જાય છે, ઇચ્છાઓની પરિપૂર્ણતા જ જીવન છે.

13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be held by it; but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.શિખામણને નકારનાર આફત નોતરે છે, પણ આજ્ઞાઓનો આદર કરનારને બદલો મળે છે.

14 The teaching of the wise [man] is a fountain of life, to turn away from the snares of death.જ્ઞાનીઓનો ઉપદેશ જીવનસ્ત્રોત છે, તે વ્યકિતને મૃત્યુના સકંજામાંથી ઉગારી લે છે.

15 Good understanding procureth favour; but the way of the treacherous is hard.સારી સમજશકિત સન્માન પામે છે, વિશ્વાસઘાતી લોકો, વિનાશને નોતરે છે.

16 Every prudent [man] acteth with knowledge; but the foolish layeth open [his] folly.પ્રત્યેક ડાહ્યો માણસ સમજદારીથી વતેર્ છે. પણ મૂર્ખ પોતાની મૂર્ખાઇ જાહેર કરે છે.

17 A wicked messenger falleth into evil; but a faithful ambassador is health.એક દુષ્ટ સંદેશાવાહક મુશ્કેલીમાં મૂકાઇ જાય છે; પણ વિશ્વાસુ સંદેશવાહક સાંત્વન લાવે છે.

18 Poverty and shame shall be [to] him that refuseth instruction; but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.શિખામણ ફગાવી દેનારના ભાગ્યમાં ગરીબી અને અપમાન છે, સુધારાઓને સ્વીકારનારને સન્માન મળે છે.

19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; but it is abomination to the foolish to depart from evil.ઇચ્છાની તૃપ્તિ આત્માને મીઠી લાગે છે; પણ દુષ્ટતાથી પાછા વળવું એ મૂખોર્ને માટે આઘાત જનક લાગે છે.

20 He that walketh with wise [men] becometh wise; but a companion of the foolish will be depraved.જો તું જ્ઞાની માણસોની સંગત કરશે, તો તું જ્ઞાની થશે. પરંતુ જે મૂર્ખની સોબત કરે છે તેના બૂરા હાલ થાય છે.

21 Evil pursueth sinners; but to the righteous good shall be repaid.દુર્ભાગ્ય પાપીનો પીછો પકડે છે, પણ ભલા માણસોને સારી વસ્તુઓ બદલા રૂપે મળે છે.

22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children; but the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous [man].એક ભલો માણસ પોતાનાં છોકરાંના છોકરાને માટે વારસો મૂકી જાય છે; અને પાપીનું ધન પુણ્યશાળી માટે ભરી મૂકવામાં આવે છે.

23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor; but there is that is lost for want of judgment.ગરીબના ખેતરમાં ભલે ઘણું અનાજ ઊપજે, પણ તે અન્યાયથી આચકી લેવામાં આવે છે.

24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son; but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.જે પોતાના બાળકને શિસ્તપાલનની કેળવણી માટે સોટી મારતો નથી તે પોતાના બાળકનો દુશ્મન છે; પરંતુ તેના પર પ્રીતિ કરનાર તેને વેળાસર શિક્ષા કરે છે.

25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul; but the belly of the wicked shall want.સજ્જન પેટ ભરીને ખાય છે, પણ દુર્જનનું પેટ ખાલીને ખાલી રહે છે.
