Titus 1:15
જે લોકો પોતે શુદ્ધ છે, તેઓના માટે તો બધી વસ્તુઓ શુદ્ધ હોય છે. પરંતુ પાપથી ભરેલા અને અવિશ્વાસીઓને માટે કંઈ પણ શુદ્ધ હોતું નથી. ખરેખર, એ લોકોના વિચારો દુષ્ટ બન્યા છે અને સત્ય શું છે તે જાણવા તેઓનું જ્ઞાન નષ્ટ થઈ ગયુ છે.

જ ખોરાક ખાવાની બાબત પર માર મૂકીને દેવનું કાર્ય નષ્ટ ન થવા દો. ખાવાની બાબતમાં બધો જ ખોરાક ખાવા લાયક હોય છે. પરંતુ જે ખાવાથી બીજો માણસ જો પાપમાં પડતો હોય તો એ ખોરાક ખાવો યોગ્ય ન ગણાય.

હું તો પ્રભુ ઈસુમાં છું. અને હું જાણું છું કે એવો કોઈ ખોરાક નથી કે જે ખાવા માટે નકામો હોય. પરંતુ જો કોઈ માણસ એવું માનતો હોય કે કોઈ વસ્તુ તેના માટે ખોટી કે નકામી છે, તે તેના માટે તે ખોટું જ છે.

એવા માણસો લોકોને કહેતા ફરે છે કે તેઓ લગ્ર કરી શકે નહિ. અને તેઓ લોકોને કહે છે કે અમુક અમુક જાતનો ખોરાક ખાવો ન જોઈએ. પરંતુ તે ખોરાક પણ દેવે જ બનાવ્યો છે. અને દેવને માનનારા તથા સત્યને જાણનારા લોકો આભારસ્તુતિ કરીને એ ખોરાક ખાઈ શકે છે.

હા, “બધી જ વસ્તુઓ મંજૂર છે.” પણ બધી જ વસ્તુઓ સારી નથી. હા. “બધી જ વસ્તુની પરવાનગી છે.” પરંતુ કેટલીક વસ્તુઓ બીજાઓને વધારે શક્તિશાળી બનવામાં ઉપયોગી થતી નથી.
રોમનોને પત્ર 14:23
તે ખોરાક ખાવો યોગ્ય છે કે નહિ તેની ખાતરી કર્યા વગર જો કોઈ વ્યક્તિ તે ખાઈ લે તો તે પોતાની જાતને દોષિત માને છે. શા માટે? કારણ કે તે વ્યાજબી હતું એમ તેણે માન્યું નહોતું. અને જો કોઈ વ્યક્તિ જેમાં તેને વિશ્વાસ નથી કે તે સાચું છે અને તે કરે છે તો પછી તે પાપ છે.

“દરેક વસ્તુઓ માટે મને છૂટ છે.” પરંતુ દરેક વસ્તુ સારી હોતી નથી. “દરેક વસ્તુઓ માટે મને છૂટ છે.” પરંતુ કોઈ પણ વસ્તુને હું મારા પર પ્રભુત્વ સ્થાપવા દઈશ નહિ.

તેથી તમે ખાઓ કે તમે પીવો કે તમે જે કઈ કરો, તે દેવના મહિમા માટે કરો.

જે કઈ બજારમાં માંસ વેચાતું હોય તે પ્રેરબુદ્ધિથી આત્મા કહે કે તે તમારે ખાવાને યોગ્ય હોય તો કોઈ પણ પ્રશ્ન તે માંસ વિષે પૂછયા વિના ખાઓ.

પરંતુ બધા લોકો આ બાબત જાણતા નથી. છતાં ત્યાં કેટલાએક લોકો છે જેઓને મૂર્તિપૂજા કરવાની આદત પડેલી હતી. તેથી જ્યારે તે લોકો નૈંવેદ ખાય છે ત્યારે તેઓ હજુ પણ એમ જ માને છે કે તે મૂર્તિઓને છે. તેઓ મનમાં સ્પષ્ટ નથી કે આ નૈવેદ ખાવો યોગ્ય છે. તેથી જ્યારે તેઓ તે ખાય છે, ત્યારે તેઓ અપરાધભાવ અનુભવે છે.
લૂક 11:39
પ્રભુએ (ઈસુ) તેને કહ્યું, “તમે ફરોશીઓ તો થાળી અને વાટકો બહારથી સાફ કરો છો, પરંતુ તમારા અંતરમાં તો બીજા લોકોને છેતરીને ભેગી કરેલી વસ્તુઓ અને દુષ્ટતા છે.

પછી વાણીએ તેને ફરીથી કહ્યું, “દેવે આ વસ્તુઓ શુદ્ધ કરી છે. તેને ‘નાપાક’ કહીશ નહિ!”

પરંતુ જે શબ્દો વ્યક્તિના મોંમાંથી નીકળે છે તે જે રીતે વ્યક્તિ વિચારે છે તેનું પરિણામ છે. આ શબ્દો માણસને અસ્વચ્છ બનાવે છે.
