તે જ વષેર્ યહૂદિયાના રાજા સિદકિયાના શાસનની શરૂઆતમાં ચોથા વર્ષનાં પાંચમા મહિનામાં ગિબયોનના વતની આઝઝુરના પુત્ર પ્રબોધક હનાન્યાએ યહોવાના મંદિરમાં, યાજકો અને બધા લોકોની હાજરીમાં કહ્યું,

પરંતુ બિન્યામીનના દરવાજામાંથી યમિર્યા પસાર થતો હતો, ત્યારે હનાન્યાના પુત્ર શેલેમ્યાના પુત્ર ઇરિયા સંત્રીએ તેની ધરપકડ કરી અને કહ્યું કે, “તે બાબિલના પક્ષમાં જતો રહે છે અને તે રાજદ્રોહી છે.”

ત્યારે તે નીચે ઊતરીને મહેલનાં વહીવટી સભાખંડમાં ગયો. અલીશામા મંત્રી ત્યાં હાજર હતો. અને તેની સાથે શમાયાનો પુત્ર દલાયા, આખ્બોરનો પુત્ર એલ્નાથાન શાફાનનો પુત્ર ગમાર્યા, હનાન્યાનો પુત્ર સિદકિયા તથા બીજા બધા અમલદારો પણ ત્યાં હાજર હતાં.

તેણે બધા લોકો સમક્ષ કહ્યું, “આ યહોવાના વચન છે; ‘આ જ રીતે આજથી બે વર્ષ પછી હું બાબિલના રાજા નબૂખાદનેસ્સારની ઝૂંસરી બધી પ્રજાઓની ડોક પરથી ઉઠાવી લઈને ભાંગી નાખીશ.”‘એ પછી યમિર્યા મંદિરમાંથી ચાલ્યો ગયો.

“‘યહૂદિયાના રાજા સિદકિયાને આ બધી બાબતો મે કહી, મેં કહ્યું, “તમે બાબિલના રાજાને શરણે જાવ, જેથી તમે જીવતા રહેશો.

ત્યારબાદ અદોમ, મોઆબ, આમ્મોન, તૂર અને સિદોનના રાજાઓને યહૂદિયાના રાજા સિદકિયાના દરબારમાં આવેલા તેના એલચીઓ મારફતે સંદેશા મોકલ:
