યહોવા કહે છે, “હે યાકૂબના વંશજો. તમે સાંભળો, તમે ઇસ્રાએલને નામે ઓળખાઓ છો, તમે યહૂદાના ફરજંદો છો: તમે યહોવાના નામે સમ ખાઓ છો અને ઇસ્રાએલના દેવની ભકિત કરવાનો દાવો કરો છો, પણ સાચેસાચ કે સાચી શ્રદ્ધાથી નહિ.”
