તેણે યહૂદાના લોકોને કહ્યું, “ચાલો, આપણે આ શહેરો નવેસરથી બાંધીએ, તેમની ફરતે કોટ કરીએ અને તેના બુરજો અને ભૂંગળોવાળા દરવાજા મૂકીએ, આ ભૂમિ હજી આપણી છે, કારણ, આપણે આપણા દેવ યહોવાની સેવાપૂજા કરીએ છીએ અને તેણે આપણા ઉપર દયા કરી, આપણને બધી બાજુએથી શાંતિ અને સલામતી આપી છે.” આથી તેમણે નગરો બાંધવા માંડ્યાં અને એ કામ સફળતાપૂર્વક પાર ઉતાર્યુ.

એ ઉપરાંત તેણે યરૂશાલેમમાં ‘ખૂણાના દરવાજા,’ ખીણના દરવાજા અને કિલ્લા દરવાજા પાસે અને દીવાલનાં વળાંક પાસે બુરજો બંધાવ્યા.
