સમગ્ર ઇસ્રાએલમાં તેણે વેદીઓ ભાંગી નંખાવી અને અશેરાદેવીના સ્તંભો તોડી પાડ્યાં અને તેણે મૂર્તિઓ તોડી પડાવી, તેમનો દળીને ભૂકો કરી નંખાવ્યો, ને બધી ધૂપની વેદીઓનો નાશ કરાવ્યો. ત્યાર પછી તે પાછો યરૂશાલેમ આવ્યો.

તેણે ઉચ્ચસ્થાનો પરની સમાધિઓ દૂર કરી, અશેરાદેવીની મૂર્તિ કાપી નાખી અને મૂસાએ તૈયાર કરાવેલા કાંસાના સાપને તોડી ટુકડા કરી નાખ્યા, કારણ કે ત્યાં સુધી ઇસ્રાએલીઓ તેને બલિદાનો અર્પણ કરતા હતા, તેણે તેઓને કહ્યું; આ તો ફકત કાંસાનો ટૂકડો છે.

પછી દેશના બધા લોકોએ બઆલના મંદિરે જઈ તેને તોડી પાડયું. તેમણે તેની વેદીઓ અને મૂર્તિઓ તોડી નાખી અને બઆલના યાજક માત્તાનને વેદીઓ સામે જ મારી નાખ્યો.યાજકે યહોવાના મંદિરનું રક્ષણ કરવા માટે ચોકીદારો ગોઠવી દીધા.

દહનાર્પણ પછી તેણે નાયકો અને ચોકીદારોને કહ્યું, “અંદર જાઓ અને બધાંને મારી નાખો, એકનેય જવા દેશો નહિ.”ચોકીદાર અને નાયકોએ અંદર જઈને એકેએકની હત્યા કરતાં કરતાં છેક બઆલના મંદિરના ગર્ભગૃહ સુધી પ્રયાણ કર્યું.
પુનર્નિયમ 13:5
જે પ્રબોધક અથવા સ્વપ્નદૃષ્ટા તમને લોકોને તમાંરા દેવ યહોવાથી દૂર લઈ જવા પ્રયત્ન કરે તેને મૃત્યુ તરફ ધકેલો, તેના પર સહાનુભૂતિ અનુભવવી નહિ. કારણ કે, તે જેણે તમને ગુલામીમાંથી મુકત કર્યા અને મિસરમાંથી આઝાદ કર્યા. તમાંરા દેવ યહોવાની સામે બળવો કરવાનું કહે છે. એ તમને તમાંરા દેવ યહોવાએ જે માંગેર્ જવાનું જણાવ્યું છે તે માંગેર્થી ચલિત કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરે છે. તમાંરી વચ્ચેથી તમાંરે એ અનિષ્ટ દૂર કરવું જ જોઈએ.
પુનર્નિયમ 12:3
તેમની અગ્નિ વેદીઓ વિખેરી નાખો, તેમના સ્માંરક સ્તંભોને ભાંગી નાખો. અશેરીમના થાંભલાને બાળી નાખવા અને તેમના દેવોની મૂર્તિઓ તોડી નાખો. યાદ રાખો- તમાંરે તેમનું નામ તે જગ્યાએથી ભૂંસી નાખવાનું છે.
