પણ યહૂદિઓ જેઓ માનતા ન હતા તેઓ ઈર્ષ્યાળુ બન્યા. તેઓએ શહેરમાંથી કેટલાએક ખરાબ ભાડૂતી માણસો રાખ્યા. આ ખરાબ માણસોએ ઘણા લોકોને ભેગા કર્યા અને શહેરમાં મુશ્કેલીઓ ઊભી કરી. તે લોકો પાઉલ અને સિલાસની શોધમાં યાસોનના ઘરમાં ગયા. તે માણસો પાઉલ અને સિલાસને લોકોની આગળ બહાર કાઢવા ઇચ્છતા હતા.

But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

But the Jews, being moved with jealousy, took unto them certain vile fellows of the rabble, and gathering a crowd, set the city on an uproar; and assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them forth to the people.
