22 મૂસાના નિયમશાસ્ત્ર પ્રમાણે શુદ્ધિકરણનો સમય આવતા યૂસફ અને મરિયમ બાળકને પ્રભુ સમક્ષ રજૂ કરવા માટે યરૂશાલેમ લઈ ગયા.
23 પ્રભુના નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાં જે લખ્યું છે તે પ્રમાણે, “પરિવારમાં જ્યારે પ્રથમ દીકરો જન્મ લે છે તેને પ્રભુને સારું પવિત્ર ગણવો જોઈએ.”
24 વળી પ્રભુના નિયમશાસ્ત્ર પ્રમાણે લોકોએ બલિદાન પણ આપવાનું હોય છે. તે મુજબ હોલાંની એક જોડ અથવા કબૂતરનાં બે બચ્ચાનું બલિદાન આપવાનું હોય છે. તેથી યૂસફ અને મરિયમ આ વિધિ કરવા યરૂશાલેમ ગયા.
22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)
24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
