1 પથુએલના પુત્ર યોએલને સંભળાયેલી યહોવાની વાણી
2 સાંભળો, હે ઇસ્રાએલના વડીલો! અને દેશના સર્વ વતનીઓ, તમે પણ ધ્યાન આપો! તમારા કે તમારા પૂર્વજોના સમયમાં કદી આવું બન્યું છે?
3 તમે તમારાઁ સંતાનોને એની વાત કરજો; તેઓ તેમનાં સંતાનોને વાત કરશે અને તેઓ પછીની પેઢીને કહેશે.
4 તીડો તમારો બઘો પાક ખાઈ જશે. જે કાતરનારા તીડોએ છોડયું તે ગણગણતા તીડો ખાશે; જે ગણગણતા તીડોએ છોડયું તે કૂદતા તીડો ખાશે; છેલ્લે આંકરાંતિયા તીડ બચેલું બઘું ખાઈ જશે.

2 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.
