1 After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.ઈસુએ લોકોને આ બધી બાબતો કહેવાનું પૂર્ણ કર્યુ. પછી ઈસુ કફર-નહૂમ ગયો.

2 A certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.ત્યાં કફરનહૂમમાં એક લશ્કરનો અમલદાર હતો. તે અમલદારને એક નોકર હતો જે ઘણો માંદો હતો. તે મરવાની અણી પર હતો, તે અમલદાર નોકરને ઘણો ચાહતો હતો.

3 When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his servant.જ્યારે અમલદારે ઈસુ વિષે સાંભળ્યું ત્યારે તેણે યહૂદિઓના વડીલોને તેની પાસે મોકલ્યો. તે અમલદારની ઈચ્છા હતી કે માણસો ઈસુને આવીને નોકરને બચાવવાનું કહે.

4 When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, "He is worthy for you to do this for him,તે માણસો ઈસુ પાસે ગયા. તેઓએ ઈસુને અમલદારને મદદ કરવા વિનંતી કરી. તેઓએ કહ્યું, “આ અમલદાર તમારી મદદ માટે યોગ્ય છે.

5 for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us."તે આપણા લોકોને ચાહે છે અને આપણા માટે તેણે સભાસ્થાન બંધાવ્યું છે.”

6 Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, "Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.તેથી ઈસુ તે માણસો સાથે ગયો. જ્યારે ઈસુ અમલદારના ઘર નજીક આવતો હતો ત્યારે અમલદારે કેટલાએક મિત્રોને કહેવા માટે મોકલ્યા કે, “પ્રભુ મારા ઘરમાં આવવાની તકલીફ લઈશ નહિ. હું તને મારા ઘરમાં લાવવા માટે પૂરતી યોગ્યતા ધરાવતો નથી.

7 Therefore I didn't even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.તેથી હું મારી જાતને તારી પાસે આવવા યોગ્ય ગણી શકતો નથી. તારે તો માત્ર આજ્ઞા કરવાની જ જરૂર છે અને મારો નોકર સાજો થઈ જશે.

8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go!' and he goes; and to another, 'Come!' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."હું તારી સત્તા જાણું છું. હું બીજા માણસોની સત્તાનો તાબેદાર છું. અને મારા તાબામાં સૈનિકો છે. હું એક સૈનિકને કહું છું કે જા, એટલે તે જાય છે અને બીજા સૈનિકને કહું છું, કે આવ, અને તે આવે છે; અને મારા નોકરને હું કહું છું કે આ કર અને નોકર તે કરે છે.”

9 When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel."જ્યારે ઈસુએ આ સાંભળ્યું; તે આશ્ચર્યચકિત થયો. જે લોકો તેની પાછળ આવતા હતા તેઓના તરફ ઈસુ પાછો ફર્યો. ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “હું તમને કહું છું આટલો બધો વિશ્વાસ તો મેં ઇઝરાએલમાં પણ નથી જોયો.”

10 Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well.જે લોકોને ઈસુ પાસે મોકલવામાં આવ્યા હતા. તેઓ ઘેર પાછા ફર્યા ત્યારે તેઓએ નોકરને સાજો થયેલો જોયો.

11 It happened soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him.બીજે દિવસે ઈસુ નાઇન નામના શહેરમાં ગયો. તેના શિષ્યો અને લોકોનો મોટો સમૂહ તેની સાથે યાત્રા કરતો હતો.

12 Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her.જ્યારે ઈસુ શહેરની ભાગોળે આવ્યો, તેણે એક મૂએલા માણસને બહાર લઈ જતાં જોયો, એક માતા કે જે વિધવા હતી તેનો એકનો એક દિકરો મૃત્યુ પામ્યો હતો. જ્યારે તેના પુત્રના મૃતદેહને લઈ જવાતો હતો ત્યારે માતાની સાથે શહેરના ઘણા લોકો હતા.

13 When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, "Don't cry."જ્યારે પ્રભુએ (ઈસુ) તેને જોઈ, ત્યારે તેના હ્રદયમાં તેને માટે કરૂણા ઉપજી. ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું, “રડીશ નહિ,”

14 He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, "Young man, I tell you, arise!"ઈસુ ઠાઠડીની પાસે ગયો અને તેને સ્પર્શ કર્યો. ખાંધિયા ઊભા રહ્યાં. ઈસુએ મૃત્યુ પામેલા પુત્રને કહ્યું, “હે જુવાન, હું તને કહું છું કે ઊઠ.”

15 He who was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.પછી તે મૃત્યુ પામેલો માણસ બેઠો થયો અને વાતો કરવા લાગ્યો. ઈસુએ તેને તેની માને સોંપ્યો.

16 Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us!" and, "God has visited his people!"બધાજ લોકો ભયભીત થયા. તેઓ દેવની સ્તુતી કરતા હતા. તેઓએ કહ્યું, “આપણી પાસે એક મોટો પ્રબોધક આવ્યો છે!” અને તેઓએ કહ્યું, “દેવ તેના લોકોની સંભાળ રાખે છે.”

17 This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea, and in all the surrounding region.ઈસુ વિષેના આ સમાચાર આખા યહૂદિયામાં અને આસપાસના બધાજ પ્રદેશમાં પ્રસરી ગયા.

18 The disciples of John told him about all these things.યોહાનના શિષ્યોએ આ બધી વાતો યોહાનને કહી. યોહાને પોતાના શિષ્યોમાંથી બે શિષ્યોને પોતાની પાસે બોલાવ્યા.

19 John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, "Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?"યોહાને તેઓને પ્રભુ (ઈસુ) ની પાસે મોકલીને પૂછાવ્યું કે, “જે આવનાર છે તે શું તું જ છે કે અમે બીજી વ્યક્તિની રાહ જોઈએ?”

20 When the men had come to him, they said, "John the Baptizer has sent us to you, saying, 'Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?'"તેથી તે માણસો ઈસુ પાસે આવ્યા. તેઓએ કહ્યું, “બાપ્તિસ્મા કરનાર યોહાને તારી પાસે અમને પૂછવા મોકલ્યા છે કે જે આવનાર છે તે શું તું જ છે કે પછી અમે બીજી આવનાર વ્યક્તિની રાહ જોઈએ?”

21 In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.તે સમય દરમ્યાન, ઈસુએ ઘણા લોકોને માંદગીમાંથી, રોગોમાંથી અને ભૂંડા આત્માઓથી પીડાતાઓને સાજા કર્યા. ઈસુએ ઘણા આંધળાઓને સાજા કર્યા જેથી તેઓ ફરીથી દેખતા થઈ શકે.

22 Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.પછી ઈસુએ યોહાનના શિષ્યોને કહ્યું, “જાઓ અને તમે અહીં જે જોયું છે અને સાંભળ્યું છે તે યોહાનને કહી સંભળાવો. આંધળા લોકો સાજા થયા છે અને જોઈ શકે છે. લૂલાં સાજા થયા છે અને ચાલી શકે છે. રક્તપિત્તિઓને સાજા કરવામાં આવે છે, બહેરાઓને સાજા કર્યા છે અને તેઓ સાંભળી શકે છે. મૃત લોકોને સજીવન કરવામાં આવ્યા છે. અને ગરીબ લોકોને દેવના રાજ્યની સુવાર્તા પ્રાપ્ત થાય છે.

23 Blessed is he who is not offended by me."અને જે કોઈ મારા સંબંધી ઠોકર નહિ ખાશે તેને ધન્ય છે!”

24 When John's messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?યોહાનના સંદેશાવાહકો ગયા પછી ઈસુએ યોહાન વિષે લોકોને કહેવાનું શરૂ કર્યુ: “રેતીના રણમાં તમે શું જોવા ગયા હતા? શું પવનથી હાલતા બરુંને?

25 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.તમે બહાર શું જોવા ગયા હતા? શું સુંદર વસ્ત્ર પરિધાન કરેલા માણસને? ના, તો શું જેઓ ભપકાદાર વસ્ત્રો પહરે છે અને ભોગવિલાસ કરે છે કે જેઓ મહેલોમાં રહે છે.

26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.ખરેખર, તમે શું જોવા માટે બહાર ગયા હતા? શું પ્રબોધકને? હા, અને હું તમને કહું છું, યોહાન એ પ્રબોધક કરતાં વધારે છે.

27 This is he of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, Who will prepare your way before you.'યોહાન વિષે આમ લખેલું છે: ‘સાંભળ! હું મારા દૂતને તારી આગળ મોકલું છું. જે તારી આગળ તારો માર્ગ સિદ્ધ કરશે.’ માલાખી 3:1

28 "For I tell you, among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptizer, yet he who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he."હું તમને કહું છું, આજ પર્યંત જે કોઈ જન્મ્યા છે તે સૌના કરતાં યોહાન વધારે મોટો છે. તો પણ દેવના રાજ્યમાં જે માત્ર નાનો છે, તે તેના કરતાં મોટો છે.”

29 When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they declared God to be just, having been baptized with John's baptism.(જ્યારે લોકોએ આ સાંભળ્યું ત્યારે તે બધાએ કબૂલ કર્યુ કે, દેવનો ઉપદેશ સારો હતો. જકાતદારો પણ સંમત થયા. આ બધા લોકો યોહાનથી બાપ્તિસ્મા પામ્યા હતા.

30 But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God, not being baptized by him themselves.પરંતુ ફરોશીઓ તથા શાશ્ત્રીઓએ તેમના માટેની દેવની યાજનાનો સ્વીકાર કરવાની ના પાડી. અને તેઓએ યોહાન દ્ધારા બાપ્તિસ્મા પામવા ના પાડી.)

31 But the Lord said,{So reads TR. MT omits "But the Lord said,"} "To what then will I liken the people of this generation? What are they like?“આ સમયના લોકો માટે હું શું કહું? હું તેઓને શાની ઉપમા આપું? તેઓ કોના જેવા છે?

32 They are like children who sit in the marketplace, and call one to another, saying, 'We piped to you, and you didn't dance. We mourned, and you didn't weep.'આ પેઢીના લોકો તો બજારમાં કોઈ જગ્યાએ બેઠેલા બાળકો જેવા છે. એક બાળકોનું ટોળું બીજા બાળકોને બોલાવે છે અને કહે છે: ‘અમે તમારે માટે સંગીત વગાડ્યું, પણ તમે નાચ્યા નહિ; અમે કરૂણ ગીત ગાયું, પણ તમે દિલગીર થયા નહિ.’

33 For John the Baptizer came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.'યોહાન બાપ્તિસ્ત આવ્યો અને બીજા લોકોની જેમ રોટલી ખાધી નહિ કે દ્ધાક્ષારસ પીધો નહિ, અને તમે કહો છો કે, ‘તેનામાં ભૂત છે.’

34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man, and a drunkard; a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'માણસનો દીકરો બીજા લોકોની જેમ ખાતો અને પીતો આવ્યો છે. અને તમે કહો છો કે ‘એના તરફ જુઓ! તે વધારે પડતું ખાય છે અને ખૂબ વધારે દ્ધાક્ષારસ પીએ છે! તે જકાતદારોનો તથા ખરાબ માણસોનો મિત્ર છે!’

35 Wisdom is justified by all her children."પરતું જ્ઞાની પોતાના સર્વ કાર્યોથી યથાર્થ મનાય છે.”

36 One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee's house, and sat at the table.ફરોશીઓમાંના કોઈ એકે ઈસુને પોતાની સાથે જમવા માટે કહ્યું. ઈસુ ફરોશીના ઘરમાં ગયો અને મેજ પાસે બેઠો.

37 Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.તે સમયે તે શહેરમાં એક પાપી સ્ત્રી હતી; તેણે જાણ્યું કે ઈસુ ફરોશીના ઘેર જમવા બેઠો છે. તેથી તે અત્તરની આરસપાનની એક ડબ્બી લાવી.

38 Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.તે ઈસુના પગ પાસે ઊભી રહી, અને રડવા લાગી. પછી તેના આંસુઓથી તેના પગ ધોવાનું શરૂ કર્યું. તે પોતાના ચોટલાથી ઈસુના પગ લૂછવા લાગી. તેણે તેના પગને ઘણીવાર ચૂમ્યા અને પછી અત્તરથી ચોળ્યા.

39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, "This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner."ઈસુને પોતાને ઘેર આવવા જે ફરોશીએ કહ્યું હતું, તેણે આ જોયું. તે તેની જાતે વિચાર કરવા લાગ્યો. “જો આ માણસ પ્રબોધક હોત તો એ જાણતો હોત કે જે સ્ત્રીતેને સ્પર્શે છે તે પાપી છે!”

40 Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you." He said, "Teacher, say on."ઈસુએ ફરોશીને કહ્યું, “સિમોન, મારે તને કંઈક કહેવું છે.”સિમોને કહ્યું, “ઉપદેશક તું શું કહેવા માગે છે?”

41 "A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “બે માણસો હતા, બંને એક જ લેણદારના દેવાદાર હતા, એક માણસને લેણદારનું 500 ચાંદીના સિક્કાનું દેવું હતું. બીજાને લેણદારનું 50 ચાંદીના સિક્કાનું દેવું હતું.

42 When they couldn't pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?"માણસો પાસે પૈસા ન હતા, તેથી તેઓનું દેવું ચૂકવી શક્યા નહિ. પરંતુ લેણદારે તે માણસોને કહ્યું, “તેઓએ તેને કશું આપવાનું નથી.” તે બે માણસોમાંથી કયો માણસ લેણદારને વધુ પ્રેમ કરશે?

43 Simon answered, "He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most." He said to him, "You have judged correctly."સિમોને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “મને લાગે છે કે જે માણસને તેનું સૌથી વધારે દેવું હતું તે.”ઈસુએ સિમોનને કહ્યું, “તું સાચો છે.”

44 Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.પછી ઈસુ તે સ્ત્રીતરફ વળ્યો અને સિમોનને કહ્યું, “આ સ્ત્રીને તું જુએ છે? જ્યારે હું તારા ઘરમાં આવ્યો ત્યારે તેં મને મારા પગ ધોવા માટે પાણી આપ્યું નહી. પણ તેણે મારા પગ તેના આંસુથી ધોયા અને તેના ચોટલાથી લૂંછયા છે.

45 You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.તેં મને ચુંબન કર્યુ નથી, પણ હું જ્યારથી અંદર આવ્યો ત્યારથી તે જરા પણ રોકાયા વગર મારા પગને ચુંબન કર્યા કરે છે!

46 You didn't anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.તેં મારા માથામાં તેલ ચોળ્યું નથી, પણ તેણે મારા પગ પર અત્તર ચોળ્યું છે.

47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."તેથી હું તને કહું છું કે, “તેના ગણા પાપો હોવા છતાં માફ થયા છે. આ સ્પષ્ટ છે, કારણ કે તેણે ઘણો પ્રેમ દર્શાવ્યો છે. પરંતુ જેને ઓછું માફ કરવામાં આવે છે તે પ્રેમ પણ થોડોક દર્શાવે છે.”

48 He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."પછી ઈસુએ તે સ્ત્રીને કહ્યું, “તારા પાપ માફ કરવામાં આવ્યા છે.”

49 Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"જમવાના મેજ પાસે બેઠેલા લોકો તેઓની જાતે વિચાર કરવા લાગ્યા કે, “આ માણસ કોણ છે કે જે પાપને પણ માફ કરે છે?”

50 He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."ઈસુએ તે સ્ત્રીને કહ્યું, “તારા વિશ્વાસે તને બચાવી છે, શાંતિથી જા.”
