Jeremiah 9:10
હું તેઓના પર્વતો અને ઘાસચારાના બીડો માટે વિલાપ અને રૂદન કરતાં કરતાં તેમની તરફ નજર કરું છું; તેઓ ઉજ્જડ થઇ ગયા છે, તેમાં કોઇ જીવતું રહ્યું નથી. ઢોરનો અવાજ સંભળાતો નથી અને પક્ષીઓ તથા જંગલી પ્રાણીઓ પણ ત્યાં નથી; સર્વ નાસી ગયા છે.

હઝકિયેલ 33:28
હું આ દેશને ઉજ્જડ કરીશ અને તેના અભિમાની સાર્મથ્યનો અંત આવશે. પર્વત પર વસાવેલા ઇસ્રાએલના નગરોને હું ઉજ્જડ કરીશ, જેથી કોઇ ત્યાંથી પસાર થશે નહિ.

ચાળીસ વર્ષ સુધી આ દેશમાં માણસ કે પશુ કોઇ ફરશે નહિ. તેમાં કોઇ વસવાટ કરશે નહિ.

જંગલી ગધેડાં ઉજ્જડ ટેકરા પર ઊભાં ઊભાં શિયાળવાની જેમ હવાને માટે હાંફે છે. તેમની આંખે જાંખ વળે છે અને અંધારા આવે છે. કારણ કે, તેઓને ખાવા માટે ઘાસ નથી.”

અંધારું થાય તે પહેલાં અને સંધ્યાં સમયે પર્વત પરના પ્રવાસીની જેમ તમે ગબડી પડો તે પહેલાં તમારાં દેવ યહોવાને સન્માન આપો, અને તે અને તમે જે પ્રકાશની આશા રાખો છો તેને ધૂંધળા પડછાયા અને ગાઢ અંધકારમાં ફેરવી નાખે છે.

તું ખેદાન-મેદાન થઇ ગઇ હતી, તું ખંડેરની ભૂમિ બની ગઇ હતી એ સાચું, પણ હવે તારા વતનીઓ માટે તારી સરહદ અત્યંત સાંકડી પડશે. અને તને ખેદાન-મેદાન કરી નાખનારાઓ તો દૂર ચાલ્યા ગયા હશે.
