ઊરિયાએ પ્રત્યુ્ત્તર આપ્યો, “પવિત્રકોશ, ઇસ્રાએલના અને યહુદાના સેનાપતિઓ મંડપમાં રહે છે. તથા અધિકારી યોઆબ અને રાજાના અમલદારો ખુલ્લામાં છાવણી નાંખી પડયા છે, તેથી હું ઘેર જઈ ખાઈ-પીને પત્ની સાથે સૂવા જાઉં? તે સારું ન કહેવાય હું સમ ખાઇને કહું છું કે, એવું હું કદી નહિ કરું.”
